The no transferring to another account thing yeah, but even if you're 'banned' on steam, you can still play your games in single player, and non-VAC secured servers for multiplayer.

Well i'm loving the thread and all the sony shitheads in full rage mode about ppl that say they want to buy the Juan and actually like what they see. Why they so mad with their superior machine? move along to your thread and jerk each other off there IMO. the rage is so bad i feel like i'm getting spittle on me through the screen.

Juan is looking better and better for ME the more details come out. All the "terrible" cons like always on, 24hr auth, no used games (boo hoo), drm, doesnt effect me nor does it bother me. And the recent news about family and friends sharing, this story about steam-ish behaviour, and all the other stuff already known appeals to me quite a bit (snap in, fast game switching with the lobby stuff, twitch and skype integration, sat box capabilities, smartglass, and even kinect2 although im hoping they did a better job with 2 then 1 and have some really neat game functionality.

that being said, the PR game has clearly been lost by MS, their first announcement and e3 undoubtedly could have been far far better and the message was twisted and lost especially to the hardcore gamers out there like most of us here. I still have my concerns, if their auth servers get slammed or go down or some how get borked then ya Juan is going to see things happen like what happened with the PS3 a while back with that nasty outage, and maybe even worse. Here's hoping that MS learns from that and has some serious work behind their infrastructure to ensure something like that doesn't happen.

Rumor: Microsoft engineer claims XB1 is the new Old Steam

A person claiming to be an engineer working on Xbox One has compared the new console from Microsoft to Steam only in a console format – over on Pastebin no less.

Pastebin has become very popular of late, even a PR talking points/canned answer document on Xbox One was posted through Pastebin over the weekend.

Basically, if you go through the entire wall of text posted regarding Xbox One and DRM – the majority of which is posted on Neowin – you will see statements such as:

The goal is to move to digital downloads, but Gamestop, Walmart, Target, Amazon are KIND OF FUCKING ENTRENCHED in the industry. They have a lot of power, and the shift has to be gradual. Long term goal is steam for consoles. [...] If you always want to stay with what you have, then keep current consoles, or a PS4. We’re TRYING to move the industry forwards towards digital distribution… it’sa bumpy road..

The thing is we suck at telling the story. The whole point of the DRM switch from disc based to cloud based is to kill disc swapping, scratched discs, bringing discs to friends house, trade-ins for shit value with nothign going back to developers, and high game costs. If you want games cheaper then 59.99, you have to limit used games somehow. Steam’s model requires a limited used game model.

The DRM is really really similar to steam… You can login anywhere and play your games, anyone in your house can play with the family xbox. The only diff is steam you have to sign in before playing, and Xbox does it automatically at night for you (once per 24 hours). It’s a long tail strategy, just like steam. Steam had it’s growing pains at the beginning with all it’s drm shit as well. [...] For digital downloads steam had no real competition at the time, they were competing against boxed sales. At the time people were pretty irate about steam, (on 4chan too…) It was only once they had a digital marketplace with DRM that was locked down to prevent sharing that they could do super discounted shit.

Everyone and their mother complains about how gamestop fucks them on their trade ins, getting 5$ for their used games. We come in trying to find a way to take money out of gamestop, and put some in developers and get you possibly cheaper games and everyone bitches at MS. Well, if you want the fucking from Gamestop, go play PS4.

Whats funny though, is I don't think most of the people are really defending Gamestop. Seems like their new tactic is to make Gamestop look like the bad guy and not them, lol.
