It doesn't necessarily provide hard data, but I don't think anyone could have predicted how one sided these charts seem to be so far. I brought this up in the same NeoGAF thread, but the primary problem with this list is a lack of numbers. Gamestop and Best Buy may have a big gap, but the list doesn't tell you anything due to a lack of numbers.

This becomes even more apparent when you start looking at Amazon, where they segment the guaranteed launch day deliveries from the backorders. Without numbers, you can't tell how many Amazon is guaranteed to have for either console. For all you know, Microsoft could have more consoles available for launch day over Sony (which may be the opposite, due to bad production yields on XBO's ESRAM).

Furthermore, this is only gauging preorders. Those aren't actual sales until the inventory is charged. All of this should be taken with a grain of salt.

Microsoft's Xbox boss Don Mattrick has spoken out to defend the Xbox One's $500 price point, saying the company is in fact over-delivering value with the next-generation system.

"It's a lower number than some of the analysts had forecasted," Mattrick said on Bloomberg TV. "We're over-delivering value against other choices I think consumers can get. Any modern product these days you look at it [and] $499 isn't a ridiculous price point. We're delivering thousands of dollars of value to people, so I think they're going to love it when they use it."

Competitor Sony will offer its PlayStation 4 at $400 this holiday season, but Mattrick believes consumers will choose Xbox One for its suite of exclusive services and applications like an improved Xbox Live, as well as Skype, Twitch TV, SmartGlass, and Kinect.

"We're really making the living room your center of fun for your family," Mattrick said.

Every Xbox One will include a Kinect 2.0 sensor, while PS4 gamers will need to pay $60 to purchase a PlayStation Eye camera.

just to piggyback off part of this, the Best Buy I work at struggles with preorders because there are no dedicated associates in gaming in the past 6 months or so due to corporate restructure.
Everyone knows the joke that when you walk into Gamestop they always ask you if you wanna preorder whatever some hot title is. As such, I'm not terribly surprised that Best Buy's preorders are weaker than the other places.
Game-wise, if you are part of Best Buy's $14.99 a year program in the past year, you could get $20 store credit for preordering many of the top titles(Madden, AC3, CoD:BO2, Last of Us, etc). So I don't know why more people don't go there, other than not knowing about the promotion.
