Good for them on not being stubborn and listening to the consumer base
Good for them on not being stubborn and listening to the consumer base
That's embarrassing
Embarrassing but necessary, kudos to MS for not being completely stubborn about this and working WITH the consumers for a change.
I might actually pick up an XB1 down the line now.

... An internet connection will not be required to play offline Xbox One games – After a one-time system set-up with a new Xbox One, you can play any disc based game without ever connecting online again. There is no 24 hour connection requirement and you can take your Xbox One anywhere you want and play your games, just like on Xbox 360.
Trade-in, lend, resell, gift, and rent disc based games just like you do today – There will be no limitations to using and sharing games, it will work just as it does today on Xbox 360.
In addition to buying a disc from a retailer, you can also download games from Xbox Live on day of release. If you choose to download your games, you will be able to play them offline just like you do today. Xbox One games will be playable on any Xbox One console -- there will be no regional restrictions.
These changes will impact some of the scenarios we previously announced for Xbox One. The sharing of games will work as it does today, you will simply share the disc. Downloaded titles cannot be shared or resold. Also, similar to today, playing disc based games will require that the disc be in the tray...
Who ever said that bitching about things online doesn't do anything?
I fully expect to see Callisto, Day and aurik in here eating crow.
Not surprised that Microsoft is back peddling as fast as they can, they were getting killed pretty much everywhere for their policies. This is a win for consumers I guess, but I'm still not buying one.
Good, now we can talk about the actual reasons that the Xbox One is inferior to the PS4, like price, and ram, and programming instead of having this elephant taking up all the air in the room.
I'm also surprised that the official release did not also contain Don Mattrick's resignation notice.
Meh, still not getting one. The fact they even had the balls to think that bullshit would fly to begin with only hints to whatever retarded logic is going on behind the scenes. And that Don guy was just a straight up arrogant douche about the whole ordeal.
We're 2 for 2 on that front .... the original twitter campaign got Sony to squash any lingering ideas of DRM that they had and this is now another much bigger victory. Still, I'm unsure if this is victory or just a stall for another attempt next generation ... I sorta wonder if them keeping to their plan and suffering huge financial losses would have had a better effect.
Their secret plan:
1. Reverses policy on DRM
2. Build up customer base
3. Activates DRM policy again!
4. ... and profit
So Microsoft lied that the system was built from the ground up around these policies? Also that it was the publishers who pressured for the DRM? Are they abandoning the publishers wishes or was it Microsoft who wanted the policies in place?
Is game sharing gone now?
