it's a very minor loss, it's pretty much counteracted as long as you buy at least 1 game for the console, which is practically a given anyways.
So pumped for an always online $500 console that costs money monthly to play online.
So I'm having like stockholm syndrome or some shit with microsoft and this always-online xbox. I mean really, when was the last time your internet was down for an unreasonable amount of time? Or down at all? I honestly can't remember the last time my internet went down. actually i think i do remember my modem had stopped blinking like a year ago, and i unplugged/replugged that bitch and it was all good. we'll be fine guys... just fine... sweet jesus someone help me
I just recently moved back to civilization three months ago. Before that I lived in a town where the only options for internet were satellite and cell. I couldn't keep a solid connection no matter what. Wasn't able to play any games online due to the slow connection and huge ping. I just wouldn't have been able to use a console like that there. A large swath of America still is like that. We forget how many people don't live in cities and how ginormous our country really is. Even now that I'm in a city, my internet was in and out for about 4 days last week until a tech came out and fixed it. Shit happens and I don't wanna be dependent on a connection always being on to play a game. Hell, when the internet goes down I want the distraction of being able to play a game. lol
Opt online has crap days sometimes and my net can be out randomly for like 2 hours one every month or so.
Also my router can shit out when we have more then ten items on it or someone with a phone just leaves the Wi-Fi range without first turning it off. I sometimes won't bother to reset if I'm not doing anything online.
So yes a always online with my crap net would suck.
didn't know adam orth posted here.
the issue isn't as simple as "oh well my internet is fine, who cares" the issue is the precedent it sets, the absurdity of requiring a constant connection to play an offline singleplayer game, and the fact that for many people having a constant internet connection ranges from unlikely to impossible.

Event pushed back to May lol
May as well wait until E3 lol, Microsoft.
Rumor out saying Adam Orth got fired. Guess it's time to trend that #dealwithit :D
I have Comcast internet and it goes out semi frequently. Rain, snow storms, sometimes wind and it will go out. I've had 10x more issues with Comcast internet then I do with my Direct TV. I live in the busiest area of my city.
For anyone that says it's not a big deal to be online 100%, can you explain rationally why I must be online 100% to play a game such as Fallout, Skyrim, or other single player games that need zero online participation? Is there a sound reason why this makes sense that a person must be online 100% to play such games?
"Cuz the pirates will do piratey things! Yarrr!"
if only history had proven that super restrictive DRM only hurts legit customers while increasing people who pirate to not have to deal with that bullshit. if only.
I feel like MS has almost no reason to do this really... did the Xbox really have that many people stealing games? 90% of people have an xbox for their "unmatched online service"I do not agree with that statement for its price but that is a big selling point. Its also fairly easy to ban stolen games when they go online, right?
So what on gods earth can their reason be?
