You haven't really addressed the original point. I'm not making any money off the thing whether it does well or not, I'm a consumer. Whether I bought the product and found fault in the experience or refuse to buy it because it looks unappealing to me, you trying to dismiss my point by pointing out that other people have bought the same product really has absolutely fuck-all to do with anything.

After reading this, I looked back at the point where you entered the discussion, and read on from there as I tried to make sense of your stance. I couldn't. The part I've quoted doesn't correlate to where you recently started commenting, as the discussion was already about franchises being milked for profit, not someone being attacked for discussing the cons of a specific game's design.

I never said a game having a lot of sales made it "not a bad game", the whole point was that complaining about a company 'milking' a franchise is retarded because that's how the industry works. If a sequel is shitty then most people will default to saying it's 'milked', if you're asking about that (I think so?). If developers are just chugging out shitty games just because they have a title worth millions then I'd call it milking, too. But I mean, if you've got a solid sequel that really builds on the mechanics and gameplay of the first and does well.. then nobody bats an eye.

I guess for instance, Sonic the Hedgehog games from ... uh arguably ~2000 until 2012 could have been considered milked because they were so bad nobody would have even thought of buying them except that they said Sonic on the front?

I believe the confusion is not related to what milking means, as everyone knows that. Rather, it's the irrelevance of saying something like "saying something's being milked is a commentary on its quality" when your previous argument was "talking about sales numbers in response to design commentary is douchey," as no one was doing the latter anyway—the conversation was already about sales. It's a case of trying very hard to force a point that doesn't apply.

I think the default should be quality of game.
Then if anyone ever says, why have they been tossing out trashy games for years? Then sales is now a relevant thing to discuss in terms of why a business would sling something high profit, low cost.

Between the Angry Joe and Reddit interviews he's been doing a very shitty job of being a mouthpiece. I realize he's an extension of Microsoft's corporate will but if they want to turn around their public image the first thing you do is change the face of it.
