If you're offline how is the game utilizing the cloud?

Or am I missing something, games could use the forced online function. That is now gone, how does this not change how the games are made?

If it used always online for rendering or anything it's going to change the coding.

This could effect gameplay is my fear. How is that hard to understand?

They removed the consoles requirement to check in every 24 hours, they never promised devs wouldn't still require an internet connection to play their games, single player or otherwhise, if the devs want to force you to connect to their servers or have connection to the cloud, that's all up to them.

I still think we will see redesigned games.you think after the shit storm games will see"you know what screw that everyone is pissed off about always on. Let's keep it in!"

It's great ms did this do not take it the wrong way. You really are crazy if you think this will have no effect on on titles already being worked on. There will be changes or cuts to something else.quality control,mp maps; who knows but it will take time away from developers.

Pretty sure there is no rendering being done in the cloud, best bet would be to offload all the AI and physics to the cloud and use all the processing power for graphics.

Let me put it another way. If you're worried that a game will be buggier because it wasn't coded around the assumption that the internet could go out, you are buying products from an inferior dev to begin with. If you're worried that features will be cut because the constant internet guarantee is gone, you are falling for a horrible lie. The 'cloud processing' slogan was always DRM and nothing else. Yes it takes dev time to work around a change in specification but if you write code that assumes the internet is always there you are a fucking idiot and don't belong in the game industry.

It has an effect but it will be small and completely irrelevant past the launch window. It isn't anything as severe as 'reworking the system' when as pointed out earlier, devs can continue to use the cloud as before without Microsoft's requirements to do so. Reading is fundamental.

    Controller and some accessories prices

The Xbox One's wireless controller will cost $59.99, and adding the Play and Charge Kit will set you back a total of $74.99. If you just need an extra charge kit, that will cost $24.99. Lastly, the Chat Headset is priced at $24.99.

Hoping for xo users that the chat headset won't be cheap for that price

Same level of ridiculousness as 360/PS3 controller/accessory prices.

Which are also ridiculous. Before them we had the ps2 8mb memory cards that were like $40. You'd think by now we'd have decent peripheral prices. Those controllers (at least the Xbones) can't be that expensive to make.

I'm aware, but you could make an argument that the PS4 controller also has a touchpad on it which ups the cost. What exactly does the Xbone controller have that the 360 doesn't? Point is, $60 for a controller is ridiculous on any console. My original comment was more of a general statement that peripherals are far too expensive when they're able to be produced for so cheap. I haven't bought any peripherals in over 5 years so I guess I hadn't realized that everything is still so expensive.

It probably doesn't help that most 3rd party controllers are utter crap and sometimes aren't compatible with your (online) game. Even your typical walmart nyko or powerA controller is only $10 less for wireless.

That's why the price is so high. How are they gonna make money on them if the average person only buys 2-3 controllers per console generation?

I understand why they're expensive, doesn't make it any less ridiculous though.

I'd probably have bought more controllers through the 360's life cycle, but I got a free one every time I had to replace a RRoD :D

They're built to last, so I don't care too much of the price-tag, and one is already included with the console.

Only ever had the issue with my one PS3 controller, where the tension on the left stick got worn down after 3 some years of very heavy use, and only on pressing up (because what game doesn't have you holding forward 95% of the time), which resulted in the stick not idling within the deadzone at times. Still on my first 360 pad, although the 4 little dimples on the analog are worn bald, but still works efficiently.

built to last my ass, i have a drawer full of 7 controllers that me, my bro and my daughter have managed to break in one way or another. Usually end up breaking the sticks or the bumpers due to random drops on the hardwood floors. If they were built to last a few 3 foot drops shouldn't break anything.

i'm happy to pay $60 bones if the next gen controllers dont break as easily.
