I was just about post about my dumb friends that wouldn't understand what DRM and shit was if I gave them a lecture. Only thing keeping them from getting it day one is the price point. They just know it's a new xbox. I'm not getting one, at least for like a year or two, but people out there could have been handed a piece of shit, I think we all know that, but at least they listened to the customer base instead of acting like even bigger dickheads. Further more if you had a product that was already about to be produced, or possibly already being produced, you'd be hesitatnt to make a bunch of changes too, because guess what... it's going to cost money. They wanted this console to go one way, it's clear the customer base did not want that so they made changes based on feedback and holy shit here everyone is still crying.

LOL are you serious? I never called them evil, that is just how the game works (period) If they gave a shit about customers, they would have never tried to fuck them over in the first place. The people in charge at Microsoft, for the most part. are not gamers. Old rich white men that spend more time fucking hookers on vacation than playing their Xbox. All they care about is making sure they can get more hookers and vacations, not loosing extra money to piracy or pre-owned games.

2nd. I never said anything about them not listening, but since you want to go there. No, they are not listening and haven't been listening. If they were listening, they would have dropped this bullshit right after it was announced, or even before when it was speculation, based off of the public's reaction. Instead, they tried to cram their dick down your throat, looks like you got balls on your chin, and fuck their consumers anyway. It was not until the pre-order sales numbers started leaning greatly in the PS4's favor that they started trying to change their policy and implement damage control. It wasn't them "listening", it was their PR team noticing that their policies were killing them.

Furthermore, all that shit that they are changing is all software related and will not affect their production. Taking Kinects out of boxes will cost money to do, which I doubt they do. And even then, it would be better to do so than to not sell consoles at all.

Try looking past your white knight kite shield for 5min and you might understand it is a COMPANY. Large companies main objective is to make money. And this company happens to be Microsoft, one of the most notorious companies for greed. Last I checked they were not a non-profit organization, but public company that has stock holders to appease, they don't give a fuck about you either.

Friendlist will include 360 players, no cross console chat

Xbox One’s friends list options have been detailed by Microsoft, revealing that the console also flags up Xbox 360 players in your circle. You won’t be able to chat with them however.

The details came from an updated ‘Ask Microsoft Anything’ article on IGN. It’s the same article that confirmed Xbox One will function as standard without Kinect plugged in.

In the updated piece, chief Xbox One platform architect Marc Whitten said of the new friends lists, “You’ll see us add more in this area in the future. At launch, you’ll have your expanded list of friends and the ability to mark favorites so that it is fast and easy to play with the friends you care about most.”

He confirmed that cross-console won’t be an option, “For a variety of technical reasons – including the sound quality that I talk about below – we don’t support voice chat between the two systems. You will still be able to send and receive text messages to friends on both systems, however.”

“You see your friends on both systems,” he continued, “including their rich presence. My friends that are still on Xbox 360, for example, might see that I’m on Xbox One, playing Ryse. Since I can have more than 100 friends on Xbox One, if I go back to Xbox 360 and I have more than 100 friends, it will only show me the subset of my friends who are friends with me on Xbox 360.”

Controller will be made PC compatible at some point in 2014

Xbox One controllers will be compatible with PC at some point in 2014, according to a Microsoft rep.

It follows existing Xbox 360 controller compatibility for a wide range of PC titles and for use across Valve’s Steam platform. In order to get Xbox One pads working with PC titles Microsoft must first ensure the device is supported correctly.

In a statement to CVG, a Microsoft rep explained, “As we’ve stated, the Xbox One controller, although it looks similar in many ways, shares no underlying technology with the current Xbox 360 controller. New wireless protocol, combined with the ability to work in ‘wired’ mode, and the addition of features like Impulse triggers, means that new software has to be written and optimized for the PC.”

They added, “There is also some work that we need to do to make sure that existing PC games that support the Xbox 360 controller, will work with the Xbox One controller. While it seems trivial, it’s actually quite a bit of dedicated work for all that to be seamless for the user.

“We know people want to use the Xbox One controller on their PC, and we do too – we expect to have the functionality available in 2014.”

yeah, Kinect-less $399 version and it's probably going to be the next gen standard for offline competitive FGs because of stupid Killer Instinct, and I'd have to buy one. At least if I get muscled into it it won't be as absurd as the original iteration.

@Calli, you know more than me, but I don't think it'll be standard still. It gives life to the new KI being tournament viable (game viability aside), but I think PS4s will be used in the long run for sure.
