Who the fuck is making this console? Final fantasy 14v1 team? Feels like they are releasing an incomplete console just to beat the deadline

I think it's overwhelmingly clear at this point that is exactly what is happening.

Yeah if they don't make the holiday season deadline they'll get fucked in the sales even if they have a good product out. So basically at this point they have to ship out what they can or wait another year. And that isn't exactly a good option either.

No household release for Illumiroom, too expensive for the average consumer
Microsoft has admitted that an ambitious scheme to illuminate the world's living rooms is unlikely to see the light of day any time soon.

Illlumiroom uses a Kinect camera and a projector to extend graphics beyond the screen.

But any hopes to see the project go mass-market have been dashed by a senior Microsoft executive.

Albert Penello, head of product planning for Xbox One, said that it was too expensive to go mainstream.

Speaking to the AusGamers website he said that the concept would remain as "just research" for the foreseeable future.

"It's super-neat if you're in the lab and you've got Microsoft money..

"We looked at it, but for an average customers it's like thousands of dollars [to set up]."

Using a Kinect camera and a projector, Illumiroom aimed to bring computer graphics to life around the whole living room.

Microsoft showed off the project at this year's CES technology show, with developers saying that the system would "change the appearance of the room, and enable entirely new game experiences".

At the time, experts questioned how practical the system was given that few people own a projector.

Some speculated that the system could make it to the next-generation Xbox as some form of add-on, but since January's show, Microsoft has said little about the project.

The idea of immersive video is something that others have experimented with, but few ideas have caught one.

Philips launched Ambilight television sets in 2004 which projected light around the TV to suit the mood of the content being played.

And since 2006 BBC research and development has been working on its own system, described as the visual equivalent of surround sound.

It is using a reverse projection technique that works with standard projections and its own calibration software.

Xbox One now in full production with improved CPU performance
Xbox chief marketing officer Yusef Mehdi just spoke at the Citi Global Technology Conference and said Microsoft is now in full production for the Xbox One and producing in mass with plans still on for a November 2013 launch.

About one month after improving the GPU clock speed, Mehdi added that Microsoft just made another technical boost by upgrading the CPU performance to 1.75 GHZ from 1.6 GHZ.

Mehdi wouldn’t reveal a launch date — the PlayStation 4 comes out Nov. 15 — but did say that the system is “really going to shine.”

“This will be the biggest launch we’ve ever done by a wide margin in terms of units shipped at launch,” Mehdi said.

Mehdi also had some interesting insights on the Xbox One policy reversals, the $499 price point and how the Xbox business will change with Microsoft’s big re-organization. Stay tuned for more.

Can't believe they didn't try to come out before the PS4, that's going to hurt. I suppose all the issues with components is really hampering production. They must have tried to get an earlier release date. That was really their last saving grace, beat sony to market and hope that people don't want to wait for all the new cross platform games.

That was my only concern as well. If the Xbone hit stores first a lot of people would throw money at it rather than wait for the PS4. With a release date after the PS4 there is literally no reason I would even think about getting an Xbone at this point. And I thought the Dreamcast launch was bad back in the day lol.

Sometimes I wonder if Microsoft is doing this type of stuff on purpose, can you accidentally foul up this often?

Had a feeling it would be 22nd; 360 launched on the same date.

Maybe M$ as a whole has too much shit on their poo-poo platter and it's finally caught up to them? You can tell they thought they could get away with putting in less work/time into this generation due to their built-up street cred, which, ironically, they've worked so hard to achieve. I've never personally liked the Xbox enough to warrant a purchase, but even since the original Xbox I respected their dev teams' approach to making their own stake in the industry and taking risks to create something unique.

This time they've done everything that the gaming community frowns upon, developed useless shit that nobody asked for, that was blatantly developed for the sake of profits -- all with the tactfulness and subtlety of a Radio Shack employee's sales pitch by some spazzy asshole wearing 5 lbs of moose who won't shut the fuck up and let you buy your goddamn cable splitters.

I was referring to some of the launch games not working at all. Like blue stinger for example. It was one of he few launch titles and many of the copies had a game breaking glitch that caused them to not work.

honestly both will sell out day 1 either way. this at least allows MS to increase the number of units they can claim as day 1 sales as they have more time to manufacture units. only reason i could see.
