yeah, poorly worded response would be my assumption, even if strictly speaking it would be correct if the kinect were required. seems silly to call it external hardware since (at least to me) that implies a separate purchase.

Edit: There are more like previews as Microsoft gave many of the reviewers less than a week, VG24/7 had a day, to go over the product. So nothing in-depth will be released until next week.

His "Francis" character gets a lot of views, but personally I like his videos that give personal insight on things gaming related. When he's not playing his character, it's refreshing to hear his opinions on things.

The Ars Technica review is pretty decent. There are definitely some interesting features on the XBone, I think I might actually find it appealing as the multitasking entertainment center as opposed to a game console, the price tag is just pretty hefty for that. I do spend a lot of time doing what the reviewer described of playing a game while having some random Netflix show on the side, it would be kind of nice to do that without being tethered to my desk in our vidyaz/PCs room; also kind of a specific circumstance to me but one of the three HDMI ports on my TV got exploded by lightning, and of the other two only one of them carries audio so it might actually be kind of nice to consolidate everything through the XBone into a single HDMI output, at the moment I have to unplug the cable box every time I want to use the PS4.

Personally I do like the prospect of the xbox being the cable box, but I just don't think doing a passthrough is the solution. If it has cablecard support (and can act like a DVR) I'd have been all over it.
