I cannot think of one device that I personally own or anybody I know owns that simply does not work without internet.
Maybe doesn't perform to it's full potential without internet, but can't do the most basic function that you would purchase it for, no.
EDIT: inb4 router.
Does anyone here actually want to get Juan?
Lets estimate a $399-499 price point. Just curious. I feel like the Microsoft's whole policy is anti-consumer.
I'm more than happy to avoid the console for few years until they get to their senses.... lower the price point, allow reactivation/deactivation of "Discs" for free. I also would like them to push the "connect to online" to once a month.
Oh oops. That's what I get for posting after just waking up. I thought Shiyo was agreeing with him.
There's literally almost nothing that I know of that requires an internet connection. Even routers can be operated offline for LAN purposes.
edit: nvm posts taking hours to post lol.
Guess we know now why EA got rid if it's online pass shit.
lol I couldn't help but imagine the guy saying everything in a REAL. SLOW. TONE. LIKE. THIS.
Also, why is game journalism so bad? I mean, has any one of these people who's gotten to interview the dude directly even thought of asking "Why?" they were adding all this crap like no-reselling and connection-requirement? I mean why not put the guy in the hot seat for fuck's sakes?
You'd think Microshit would've learned from Nintendo's marketing blunder with the Wii-U.
Also I can't unsee. Especially since it's appropriate.

I wonder if this is some sort of long con by Nintendo and Sony.
They "parted" ways and created the Playstation to ensure Sega didn't have a chance. A decade later Xbox begins to pose a threat so Nintendo creates the Wii and Sony mimics in order to get Microsoft to spend millions creating Kinect. By the time Wii-U is revealed and motion gaming isn't as focused this time around, Microsoft sees this as their opportunity and goes all-in on Kinect along with feeling confident they don't have to worry as much about specs. Sony then reveals PS4 with 1.8 TFLOPS and 8GB GDDR5, Microsoft is caught with their pants down, and begin to add a ton of frivolous features to Xbork Uno in a last ditch effort to stand out or pray the Xbros save them.
Nintendo and Sony then enjoy a hearty lulz over a bottle of Versus XIII labeled sake in glorious Nippon, as Microsoft struggles to answer even the most basic questions regarding their new console.
Spoiler: show
On a random note, I forgot there was the 'PSone'. The new Xbox name now feels even sillier to me.
Sure was a nice little console, until someone tripped over the controller cord cable and sent the lightweight thing flying.
I never understood the reason in name change from PSX to PSone, also never understood why there was an X for the big grey model, I guess place holder for future number and future brand of the console models? :/
The "X" was in reference to the XrossMediaBar interface which was used in the digital video recorder model. Pretty sure it never got released outside JP.
Man the Juan bit got me rolling pretty hard just then... Keep it coming.
