they don't like Silver users being able to play games online with anyone.
This is why microsoft are pieces of shit. Online multi player, especially P2P, should always be free. It's free on every other device. Oh well, stuff like this, FF14, etc, will just cause microsoft to get less games, make less money, and make most people buy a Wii U, PS4, or PC.

Im going to go out on a limb and say not having FFXIV is not going to make a difference at all to Microsoft.

I agree with the online BS though.

Rumor: Microsoft Approaches to Sony for Support, of Their TV Commitment (CBS & WME also approached)
Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer is said to have made a trip to Hollywood in order to woo a handful of TV executives.

The rumour comes courtesy of Deadline, which believes Ballmer made the trip last week in the company of entertainment studios president Nancy Tellem.

The pair are said to have “lobbied” a number of Tellem’s contacts, notably CBS chief Les Moonves, Sony TV’s Steve Mosko, and WME co-CEOS Ari Emanuel and Patrick Whitesell. Tellem is said to have wanted to give Ballmer the perspective of broadcaster, producer and agent during the trip.

The visit wasn’t just to source new content for Xbox’s entertainment push; an anonymous source said Microsoft is trying to convince Hollywood of its “commitment to transitioning its business to devices and services” and how “Hollywood entertainment is a big part of that”.

Ballmer reportedly told executives that Microsoft “doesn’t want to be a cable channel” and said Microsoft could do interesting things with sports, music, reality and scripted programming thanks to more sophisticated technology.

During the trip, Ballmer is believed to have met with Microsoft’s Santa Monica-based entertainment studios team for the first time, in order to share his vision of the Xbox One world.

Look at all the time and energy they are putting into this little soap box, can't wait until they unveil their half-baked game release line-up and demo a bunch of pre-rendered garbage at E3.

CBoat do you mind adding anything?

Hmm, I've been hearing some of this myself. It'll be hilarious if MS tries to sell a more expensive gaming machine with 1/2 of the perf. Knowing people's buying habits, they still might beat Sony on the market though. :/

    thuway
Also someone has suggested to me sony is doing the same, but I've heard from Sony devs the machine is very mature and not facing the issues Xbox One is. Microsoft started late.

    thuway
I wouldn't worry about Sony. In fact I am hearing the issue is because ES RAM is causing issues.

    Proelite

Nope. Clocks can only go down at this stage as they try to get acceptable yields.

Releasing useless info such as transistors count but not clock speeds should tell you all.

THAT is certainly true, but (all speculation after this) I think that's more down to the manufacturing difficulty of the ESRAM and yields, not actually using a finished and working version of the GPU for software related purposes.

    StevieP
I've heard the same about the ESRAM (as I shared with another poster who mentioned as such in this thread), and truthfully I think that's where all of the yield issues are coming from. Whether they need to downclock something to improve yields is a different story, but MS' APU is much more complicated and required a lot more engineers at AMD/ATI for a reason.

Interesting.... Sony seems to be having trouble getting enough components for their worldwide launch, and Microsoft seems to be having issues manufacturing. Some of these people commenting have leaked stuff previously which was true, and many people hold them in high regard, so it is not some random people leaking this information.

That's surprising. But I guess given how poorly they explained things at the reveal this is one less opportunity for MS to fuck themselves in the ass.

That's one way to look at it, but considering they made a huge point of going "we'll clarify and answer more questions at and after E3", pulling the plug on their roundtables is just as bad, if not worse.

Fair point. But I think when they made that statement they were in full on scramble mode to minimize the overall lack of answers. With them cancelling the Q&A that makes me think that they still haven't formulated a plan of attack to calm people down. Either way this does not bode well for MS. When people are looking for answers they're getting silence.

Yeah I see this as more of them giving up their chance to explain things better and basically telling consumers "Buy our console, but don't ask questions."

Oh, absolutely. In fact, if those leaks about the ESRAM can be trusted, I'd dare say they're in a state of full-blown panic at the moment. I'm not really sure it's fair to say either scenario would've really helped them one way or the other, since at this point it might've just been a Q&A filled with not-answers.

It's fair to say whatever move MS makes is going to end up being the wrong one. They painted themselves into a corner at the reveal. Give shit answers at E3 and further incense the masses. Or give no answers and cancel the Q&A and further incense the masses. The backlash that was evident before the reveal even occurred was something they should have been prepared for. Specs and system programs/functions/restrictions had been leaked off and on for weeks. The reactions to theoretical stuff(which proved to be legit) was well documented. If MS had taken a day to go over independent forums they would have seen a taste of what was to come.

MS is shell shocked right now. What little positive media they receive isn't enough to cover up the backlash they are getting from the majority of the gaming world. They don't know what to do so they are choosing to do nothing and bank off of broboxers going to CoD etc. No answers at E3 like they announced at the reveal. No answers at the reveal. No answers in the meantime. They reached too far on this.

So I was watching final bosman and I had not heard about this no buttons on the gamecube controller thing. Did that actually happen or is Bosman just trolling me?

Except he's got a point. Paying to be able to play online is lulzy and one of the biggest reasons I plan to stick to PSN+ over Xbox Live. At least I get content for my money, not a special right to play online that should be there to begin with.
