We might be a whiny minority but we tend to influence groups of people, and especially on fb/twitter this gen it will transmit to the masses more easily.
I also think in a year or so when optimisation gets more advanced for both consoles you're going to see "8/10 good game, runs at 1080p@60fps on the ps3 and looks better, xbox runs 900p@60fps and looks worse" and people will just buy more ps4s.
Oh, this shit just got even better.

Guess who's on the list.
That Kinect just became a problem
Problem solved.
Personally, I much prefer removable batteries. While I may be capable of removing a battery that isn't meant to be removed by the end user, not everyone is, nor do they necessarily want to do that, and too many companies take advantage of this (such as Apple). It's a shitty way to treat your customers, in my opinion—as such, I always prefer removable batteries/battery packs.
So are we sticking with Juan? I kinda like Xbox Done.
lol
What a load of fuck on all accounts. Not a damn thing in there that made me think they were being reasonable. PS4 it is.
Nothing new here, just confirming what we already knew. I hope sony doesn't royally fuck us as much as microsoft, but so far there hasn't been much bad news about them. Worst case scenario nintendo is our only gaming console that isn't anti-consumer bullshit.
I am really wondering how this interacts with the right of first sale. Are you going to have to agree to a ToS for every game you purchase? This whole thing reeks.
I just assumed that was related to MSN/Skype more than Xbox-specific functionality.
It kinda brings to light that one topic about resale of digital games on Steam, since one country (was it Germany?) had issue with the fact you're paying to just license something.
Digital-only and sell a retail box with just a redeem code inside like I've seen done for Fallout/Borderland DLC. Same difference, same results as far as they're concerned.
I'm expecting Sony with their lack of servers for such a grandiose thing, to just make it on a per-game basis. if a publisher 'requires' it. They already have the tech for uniquely identifiable blu-ray discs as seen with PS3 CrossBuy titles, which publishers would probably opt-in for as your 'serial key to play'.
What about normal private messages though? Is that all done through a layer of Skype also?
As the platform holders they could indeed say no. I suspect they just got greedy as a software publisher themselves and likely miscalculated the consumer backlash. The good news for them is that 50-75% of their likely audience will jizz themselves over the E3 exclusive announcements and forget this all happened.
Until the next bad thing happens.
p.s. it's not a foregone conclusion that Sony won't make the same moves. I expect them to stay pretty mum on the subject until they learn everything they can from the MS PR debacle.
