I had a lot of trouble prioritizing things. I was definitely addicted for the first 2 times I played FFXI heavily. The last time I played (For like 1 year) I played heavily because I felt like it but still maintained grades / work / relationships but I think only because I have roommates and before I never did (or played FFXI with Caiti).
Something that always held me down into the game was the feeling that people were always depending on me, and I totally did that to myself. Pretty much the high of the game for me was to be good enough and to put myself in a position that things couldn't get done without me, and if they could, at least I'd know they weren't anywhere near as smooth. This fed my total narcissism, but also made it really hard to quit as I got older and kinda didn't care anymore about being the best in groups, just doing things with 1-2 friends and getting relics for the shit of it. Always felt like I had to log on even when I didn't want to because people were depending on me, sucks, but that's the nature of MMO.
I'm currently like half-addicted to some stupid ios game from SE Guardian Cross. Without really even thinking about it I spent about $400 in 2 months on a freemium game. I'm like utterly shocked and pissed at myself, and yet at the same time I have to actively convince myself to not spend even more.
I'd say I'm easily addicted to things, kinda sucks.
Edit: 99% of the reason I'm not around here as much anymore (or even on facebook) is because I'm constantly on a stupid GC forum trading god damn cards on a fucking ios trading card game.
I want to punch myself just for typing that...and yet...
