    Elfen Lied Thoughts

I looked around to see if there was any posts regarding it on the boards as I was wondering about how people felt about the series as a whole. I didn't really find anything outside of the spam section so I apologize if this is not the proper place or format to post it. I know I'm a little late to the party but here it goes.

The anime was a disappointment compared to the manga. Ever since I finished it though been having the worst depression, so many feels in it ._. Overall I thought it was a good series and got one to self reflect on a lot of things.

Kind of spoilerish not sure if to tag since this is an old series.

I wonder in the hypothetical situation if the Diclonii would be possible to integrate into society. I think because the age when they get the arms is so young, it makes it impossible for it to occur, since there were instances of children killing their own parents. Which is just sad all around that really that the decision to genocide them was the best.

If they got the arms at an older age it may have been a different situation entirely. Or maybe it wouldn't, they all seemed to want to kill humans because they all had that inner voice. Nana for some reason was the only one lacking it, she couldn't split her personalities off. Even mariko was, maybe they only get that voice if they kill a human once? Maybe it's just a psychopathic thought to begin with kind of like we have our own conscious, although at the end Lucy's split personality acted against her consciousness.

I've read through the manga twice and watched the anime a couple times too but it's been awhile

Well there's a lot you can speculate on with this series, like maybe there's some genetic link between the Diclonii mutation and whatever it is that makes people sociopaths and/or have split personalities.

Nana pretty much proved that you could still be normal and integrate into society, but she does seem like a rare case. However I think they could still integrate into society as long as they are raised properly to understand their powers and how to control them. I had a friend bring up once how it's evolution in progress, so what would we do if something as dramatic as that happened in an evolutionary way to homo-sapiens, what would the response be. They could possibly wipe out the old species for themselves to take over. If I remember correctly though I think Luci was the only one that could make more diclonii or something like that do to her being the mother of them all.

I agree it is kind of depressing but only a little, it could be much worse, for the most part it's a happy ending.

Easily one of the most depressing things I've ever read. The only reason Nana could even integrate is because she had the Goku situation happen where she got wanged in the head really hard and forgot about being a murderous psychopath. She started to change in the end but we all see how well that turned out since she got caught in that misunderstanding.

I don't think she got hit on the head and forgot. I remember her trying to do that in order to forget so that she wouldn't be sensed and be happy. However she wasn't able to just forget and do a split personality like the rest of them. The only thing that differentiates them is that she never killed a single human unlike the rest of them. Once they've killed once it's like the voice activates. Although I don't think Mariko ever killed before but that's not possible to confirmed.

All of the Dicloniithat had that happen to them completely forgot couldnt be sensed by other Diclonii when that occurred. Nana could still be sensed at all times which was her biggest hatred because she just wanted to live a happy life.

I thought it was because of how big that thing was in the brain it created a fissure which caused the multiple personalities?

I don't understand the need to wipe out the race though because over time evolution will run it's course and everyone would be wiped out if humans were no longer reproduced. Although the issue is the lack of being able to reproduce.

The second issue is just they get the vectors at such a young age its hard to condition a child especially if one has a violent personality in youth. Three is just too young to talk to a child and convince them. I mean the humans who had the kids randomly and they were murdering people probably could have just been normal parents and didn't know what was happening and good parents as well but they decided to kill them. Although they did age twice as fast mentally they stated so maybe there was some hope, just way too many factors and luck had to be in play it seems.

My mistake. I mistook Nana for Lucy who took a 50cal to the head. It's been a long time since reading it for me.
