    Windower 4 is messing up for me. I tried logging into vanilla and old windower so I could do the earmuff quest without getting a black screen, but the old versions say that Direct3D isn't working or something and then just crashes, then when I try to start windower 4 back up it just crashes before FFXI even gets a chance to open. How can I fix this? I can't log on at all now lol.

    Any reason why Timers is still giving up wrong names when I use SMN BPs? Is it a known issue waiting for people to update timers or is it a local issue of mine and I need to update something to fix it up?

    I have the same timers issue. Attainment is also not counting lights in Abyssea. I also almost always crash when switching characters, crash when changing areas too rapidly, and always freeze on /shutdown, so I've been having to close with the X button and choose to terminate. About 30% of the time, I freeze before getting the option for Character Select, freezing during the progress bar of the first prompt when the game launches.

    Running standard release 4.0 on Win7 Pro x64.

    Another thing I noticed about not being able to play with windower 4 is that when I open it, it doesn't check for updates on launch anymore and just directly goes into loading playonline.

    Okay, I tried looking everywhere for help and I have absolutely no idea what I'm supposed to do now.

    Any update on 4.1? How are things progressing? Any success in tightening the space around the bugs yet? ^^

    Yes, the most annoying deadlock seems to have been defeated. There are still a few more changes to be made, but it is moving closer to release.

    Yeah, it's not very buggy anymore. Over the weekend I deadlocked/crashed three times with three accounts logged in for 48 hours, meaning that I crashed about once every 2 days (all three times I was in town). Considering v4.0's problems (like crash on login), I don't really know which one is more buggy at the moment. The last deadlock (or last set of deadlocks) seem to depend on an interaction between LuaCore and Hook and we haven't found a way to force them, so they're harder to debug. I'm pretty sure that it won't get pushed out until they're solved, but we may be able to add "increased stability" to v4.1's list of accolades.

    I just typed a super long post and tapatalk crashed as I was about to send it. T_T

    To keep it short, the issue where IPC/send goes "out of sync". I was under the impression that it was fixed? For the past few weeks when I login in chunks (some chars now, some later) or one character crashes and I relog it, IPC doesn't seem to communicate between the two groups.

    My gut says they're probably using different ports, but I don't know if there's any debugging tools or capabilities available to me to try and determine the problem myself.

    Edit: my original post said that I run multiple characters (more than 3) and that logging them all in is annoying, but having to relog them all (compounded by the fact that I HAVE to based on the above) is even more so, and the reason why I've been waiting for a stabler version. If its on par with 4 now, I'll definitely give it a try.

    I hate to bring bad news, but it's not that stable for everyone. There have been reports of excessive deadlocking during WKRs just this morning. It seems to be heavily accelerated by heavy stress (lots of incoming packets). It also seems to be different for each user. Personally I haven't deadlocked in almost a week (ever since we fixed that one bug), but I'm also hardly active, so maybe that's not an accurate representation. Tl;dr use with caution and don't jump into important events with this loaded without seeing how it works for you.

    We're still working on eliminating the last bugs, but the remaining ones are getting ever harder to track down, so unfortunately we can't make promises yet. Feel free to pass on any info you can provide, if you happen to come across something. Better yet, join us on IRC if you're looking to actively help with this.

    A Spellcast .xml --> Gearswap .lua file converter was mentioned awhile back (by Arcon I think?). Is that still in the works?

    I just decided to try switching to 4.1 development build. I found one major change right away. 4.0 read my controller input while out of focus. 4.1 ignores my controller input when not in focus. It's making it hard to play and look things up at the same time. Is it supposed to be that way? Ever since I started using Windower back at version 2, the best thing about it was that it didn't lose controller input while out of focus.

    Gearswap v0.713 (last post was 0.709)
    New features:
    * Equip "empty" to clear a slot
    * Can order your lists of gear
    * Access to . . . adventuring fellow information. Laughable, but not a joke.
    Improvements:
    * Improved "export sets xml" command that now actually checks whether the xml tags it's making are valid <_<
    * Less/no input locking anymore.

    Shortcuts v1.4
    Improvements:
    * Better ambiguous case handling
    * Raise works again

    Battlemod v3.09
    Renewed features:
    * Most/all coloring is back
    * Event action message works again.
    Warnings:
    * Battlemod duplicates messages under lag because the packets are duplicated and it's reading the packets. Eventually packet deduplication will be moved to hook and this problem will disappear.
    * Libra and Scavenge do not work because they use weird fields.
    * You'll need to rename your settings file and let it regenerate itself.

    Not related to beta...but I'm having problems loading send. I've never had to use it on my laptop, but I do now. I cant get an error message because its outside of the console log (unless theres a way to view it)
    Lua error: ...file path\Windower4\/addons/send/send.lua:1: attempt to in (and its cut off here)
    Other plugins load fine, and it seems my lua file is up to date, as well as I have plasmon, enternity, porter and reive loaded file.

    Are there some system files it may need?

    Related to battlemod maybe? I was trying to pop a Volatile Matamata and got this msg:

    Unfortunately I have very little more to add than trying to pop Volatile Matamata (trade shard to ???). I failed the first time, tried again and got that message ~2 seconds later it seems. The only action I could thing that might have been occurring was it trying to hit me. Not able to replicate it.

    Bah!

    Also, I have some idea why gearswap occasionally strips people naked when they zone now, but can only think of kludgy fixes for it. Considering it's a relatively minor inconvenience given the nature of the addon, I think I'd rather just wait until I figure out a real way to fix it.
