    Similar question, altough mine I guess is more about XI-Utils than Windower 4.
    Say you want to load different plugins or with different settings for one character or another.
    How can you do that, other than with Autoexec?

    I thought maybe there could be a built-in function in Windower 4 that loads different setups according to the character selected, no matter the account.

    Seems to be a graphical memory leak in Windower 4. With supersampling and junk turned on at 1920x1080 it'd strike within 30 minutes or so upon using anything with an effect, like JAs or whatever.

    Gives a graphical freeze but the game continues (movement, sounds, whatever) for about ten seconds followed by a CTD with windows error.

    I think it's a memory leak of some kind anyway, because I disabled supersampling and whatnot and now I'm going pretty stable but my memory usage has gone up from 195mb to 205mb in about fifteen minutes and still rising as I write this in a Gusgen party.

    If it's a framebuffer thing it could be nvidia video drivers instead, and I've got something less than 640mb of room for it to grow to on my old 88's, but others might be hitting this right on startup if they don't have very much vram.

    Edit: Perhaps not a leak, but dropping supersampling and whatnot fixed a crash I was encountering.

    Ok I'm back home, I have a couple of simple questions.

    * With Windower 4 launcher is mandatory and you cannot jump directly to POL, right?
    * In the settings there is a lot of redundance between XI-Utils, Windower4 and FFXI Config.

    Allow me to expand the second point.
    1) Supposing there is a conflict between those 3 settings, what's gonna happen? Say I have 1920x1080 res in XI-Utils, 1440 in Windower4 and 800x600 in FFXI Config. Which resolution will the game be launched with?
    2) Settings inside the Windower4 profile are different from the ones I have in the FFXI config, if I leave everything on default will it just use the settings I put into FFXI Config? Becuase I know that's how XI-Utils works, unless I'm wrong?
    3) Some settings are different between Windower4 and the FFXI config one. For instance there are 7 settings for Mip Mapping while in FFXI Config it's either on or off. There's SuperSampling but I don't see this into the FFXI Config, etc etc etc. I'm a bit confused atm.


    Oh and btw I till get the occasional POL crash when I close the game, but then again I used to get it on windower 3 too, even on my old PC, so it's no biggie.
    Aside from my small doubts this is looking incredibly awesome, way above my expectations

    My Silence doesn't work at all but I'm also using XP. Is that the culprit? It seems to work perfectly for everybody else I've talked to.

    Expanding on my last post, I noticed that when I launch the game from Windower 4 it automatically "changes" the FFXI config settings.
    For instances it changes the background resolution, puts my Textures compression to "high" and my on-screen maps to "compressed".

    So really, what do I have to do to tell Windower4 to leave those settings to "uncompressed" and to allow me to perform oversampling? (i.e. background resolution = 2x overlay graphics resolution)

    Tried this launchin directly from Windower 4, dunno if maybe XI Utils can override this limit.

    StatusTimer doesn't recognize the runes from Rune Enchantment. Timers doesn't work quite right with Rune Enchantment; it times Rune Enchantment as well as Tenebrae, regardless of which rune you actually use. As others have said the <st> family is borked as well.

    Same issues really, been messing with it for a little bit, best I can do is launch Windower 4, then re-import the old settings into the registry. I can't tell where its getting the settings that make the lights look pixelly (that I post a few posts back)

    Took me long enough to stop it enabling fullbright lighting every startup (to be fair, I was editing the wrong init.txt).

    Still, uncompressed textures are a necessity. Also I'd like to know what supersampling is actually setting the render res to, because some of us are picky about how nonsquare causes on-screen text to be offset weirdly because it screws the coordinates.

    Super Sampling sets your background resolution to twice your window size.

    Which is stupid, because it messes with some alignments. Most people don't give a fuck, but I guess I'll go get some screenshots to show you.

    Edit: Unless, apparently, there's no way to stop Windower 4 overriding to 1:1 with supersampling off either.

    Long story short, yes. Using something other than a perfect multiple of your background resolution causes aliasing, and using a number greater than 2 makes your computer do additional work without any benefits to you because you're exceeding the nyquist rate of your monitor.

    It makes on-screen damage/healing get offset one direction or the other, towards the closer edge of the screen, and on-and-off has screwed with 'water' effects and after-images like Utsusemi.

    Edit; Also, PNG screenshots crash. No SSOrganizer, default binding.

    Edit edit: Timers doesn't scrub things that are on cooldown but you lose access to because of level sync or something. Sync'ed below 25, Lunge stayed on my screen at the 1:23 cooldown it was at.

    No, in theory you'd want a SQUARE resolution for BG. Like 2024x2024 etc. Don't ask me why but if you set a BG resolution with a non square anamorphic factor it's gonna mess up with text. It's a very subtle difference but it's there.

    Hmm I've noticed multiple times now my screen freezes but game continues (I just solod a gob with aero/water/stone spam and just listening to his swings and my casting lol, I was a little worried!) No idea why, but I remember someone in windower forum or here maybe, saying something about a memory leak and his screen freezing but game going. Same thing maybe (I'm computer stupid so meh). Anyways, thought I'd let you know.

    Seeing the log trimmer stuff in Byrth's vid, it makes me wonder if we're near a point where you could have combat data filtered within your normal log, but then have it drawn in a created area perhaps to the left of party HP (if your resolution is big enough, anyway). Would make keeping track of things a lot easier beyond the short "Hold" option within the game itself.

    I've had a screen freeze using windower 4 twice now. In both instances when I rebooted, there was an updated plugin waiting to download.
