no crashes with the latest hook, or the one before that, however i noticed something by chance.

banish's recast is broken, for some odd reason. haven't tested other similar spells, but so far other things i spam (cure/haste/bar-spell/etc.) are all behaving normally, but i know for sure banish is broken.

after I cast it, the bar will show up with recast (around 6 seconds for me) then blink, jump to 1 second left, then disappear.

not sure if this is specific enough for you to work out what might be wrong.

And another Crash, oddly enough this happened like 15 mins after I logged in. Was using the new trusts and doing nothing particular or special.
This one happened after I downloaded a luacore update today, and some other thing.

How do I config the timers plugin to sort the timers by recast time?

In the past the ability/spell that was going to be available next was at the top of the list. Now the list is in order of what was used last, irregardless of when it is next available.

In the settings (Windower/plugins/settings/Timers.xml) there should be an entry for sort type. By default it's "creation", which means it'll sort when they were created. Change that to "duration" and then reload the plugin.

Hook 4.2.8.6 a.k.a. another desperate shot in the dark in the hopes of killing this bug once and for all™.

Also, I'd appreciate if you didn't zip up these dumps, less work for you and less work for me It's only really necessary for the full dumps (the 700MB+ ones, which this method doesn't create).

Actually, I forgot to upload the file earlier. If you got the Hook already, please re-download from the same link as above, it should have updated by now.

Ok will redownload and if need be will upload without zipping from now on. Hope there won't be a need for more dumps though! xD

does this address the banish recast not working? I tested a bit and realized all tiers of banish's recast isn't working.

It does not, that's a Timers issue, not a Hook issue. I actually verified it myself, it works correctly for Banishga and Banishga II, but not for the single-target Banish spells. I have no idea why yet, but I'll look into it.

For the record, you'd have better luck reporting such issues on our issue tracker than on here.

The hook at that link still has version 4.2.8.5, is that the right one? Personally, I haven't crashed since 4.2.8.3, but I figure I'd give it a try and see if anything pops up.

Yes, that was my bad, I did not actually increase the version, so 4.2.8.5 is correct for that Hook. Personally I haven't crashed since 4.2.0.0, which makes debugging this so much harder x.x

Was about to ask the same question as Subadai, but ok.
Personally while playing normal LS activities with my friends on various jobs I only crashed 2 times since 4.2.8.3.
Once last week on BRD in Incursion.
Once yesterday on DNC while doing Rem tales 1-5 BCs with friends.
The other crashes all happen in similar and strange situations, like I explained to you in that PM.
It can happen after a few minutes or after a certain amount of hours, but it's in the same situations.

One more dump using the latest 4.2.8.6 Hook (listed as 4.2.8.5)
    https://drive.google.com/file/d/0BxZ...it?usp=sharing

As I mentioned some time ago, I'm not even sure this type of crash is related to Windower at all, at least "directly".
So, a few questions that may help better localize where the problem is. Please help me answer these questions if you can, judging from what you saw in my dumps:

    1) Could it be related to some specific addon or some addon interaction? Is it worth of me trying to unload everything? (is there a command to unload all plugins/addons?). I could do some tests, I would only need Gearswap loaded and could unload everything else, but is it worth me trying or can we exclude this possible source of the problem?
    2) Could it depend on something local in my PC? If so would it be something related to my game install? To .dat swaps? (I swapped buff icons with custom ones) Or else, could it be related to my Windower folder/setup? Would it be worth of me to try install Windower in a new folder and try some tests with a blank configuration setup?

Unfortunately the crash dumps are not extremely helpful, other than telling me where the error happens, but not why. It keeps telling me that the error happens in the text rendering function, but there is no context, so I cannot see what the error is.

However, that is a pure Windower error (assuming the call stack is correct), meaning that no third party tools should be affecting it, nor should anything SE does be affecting it. What I think is happening (although I honestly don't know how that's possible) is that the text handler tries to render a text object that should already have been deleted. What I can tell you is that it most likely happens because you use more than one plugin that uses text objects (such as Distance, TParty, Timers, Find, InfoBar, Attainment, etc.). So one deletes an object while another plugin is trying to render it, and that's where the error occurs. That will obviously crash. Now we have put a lot of safeguards in place to assure this will not happen, but it appears that somehow it still occurs (at least that's what the crash dumps indicate).

While the dumps indicate that it's a pure Windower error, it's a bit weird that only you are still experiencing crashes at this point (or did everyone else just go quiet?). I will try giving you a Hook with a different mutex mechanism in a bit, maybe that will prevent it from happening.

One thing you could try to do, although I don't know for sure if it will reveal anything new, is to give me a full dump (i.e. a crash dump containing full heap information). This dump will be several hundred megabytes in size, so you'll need to zip that one up if you wanna share it. To create such a dump, run this updated DumpSetup program from inside your Windower folder.

Hence why I tried to look in my local setup.
But tbh as I explained to you, I've seen it happen regularly only in those "special" situations.
When I'm playing normally I've only seen 2 crashes since 4.2.8.3.
And as far as I know those 2 could have been caused by something else.

I *think* I tried to unload timers and the crash still happened, I'll try again to make sure.
What I had loaded up at the time were definitely Pointwatch (which I normally don't use, could this be the culprit?) and Distance of course.
    Uhmm Zonetimer?
Findall was loaded but not used. Find not loaded.
TPparty was loaded of course (Plugin version).
    No Infobar.

I'll try to unload everything and do step by step changes.
Wouldn't it be easier at this time to create a "fake" lua addon that somehow catches where the error happens logging simple calls/information periodically into a TXT file somewhere?
Such a file combined with the dump might help to understand not only where the error happens but why as well?

I don't want you to do all the work, if you can think of anything else I can test on my own without you having to work so much on this I'll be more than glad to do my part.

I'll try tonight. Hope I can compress it a lot through because my upstream connection sucks (I live in the third world of Europe xD)
Do you prefer Rar or Zip?

Not trying to pester, but wondering if anyone else has experienced this ^^;. As I've tested it more tonight, I am noticing that it is also not pulling my shihei or shihei toolbags, yet it is pulling my other ninja tools. The .xml file looks perfectly fine. I have never posted anything to the GitHub issue tracker, but would this be something that should go there? I have not had any crashes/error messages with GearCollector nor can I discern a specific pattern to why it isn't pulling these items other than the fact that they are new (Mekosuchinae Harness, Arendsi Fleuret, and also Globidonta Ring) - or, for some reason, shihei/shihei toolbags.

Well, like I said the dump does indicate that it's a text handler error, so even if something else causes it, Hook would likely still be at fault and what really needs fixing.

Like I said, the error is in Hook, not in any one particular text plugin/addon. Timers seems to be causing it a lot, but that's probably just because it creates and deletes tons of text objects all the time, so it's much more noticeable with it. But any kind of interaction of two differently threaded plugins/addons that handle text objects could be causing this.

Possibly, but we would have to add it to every addon/plugin that uses text objects, since Hook does not know where the text commands are coming from (Hook isn't aware of anything the plugins do really). So it would be a lot of work to set up such a debugging framework.

I don't care, whichever one works for you. If it was up to me, I'd prefer it unzipped still, but that would probably take a long time to upload

They usually compress to 50~70MB, but it depends on your process size at the time of the crash.

Yeah 80 megs should be up in less than an hour.
700mb would take me ages lol.
Hope I can provide a full dump after tonite's test. I won't change anything in my setup/plugins to make sure the environment has the same variables as the previous times.

This gives me error 404 file not existant.
I suppose it was a .key file that automatically changes stuff in the registry?
I could do that manually if you want. I created the one for my current setup (minidumps, last 10, specific folder in my secondary non SSD hard drive) on my own following your instructions long time ago. If you tell me which keys/values to change I can just do that.
