/sigh I'm an idiot. The SpellCast was already loaded in Notepad++ and I just assumed it was the right one. I spent a least 45 minutes futzing with that earlier. Feel free to post facepalm GIFs in my honor.

Can't log in regular or 3.4 or 4.0 . keeps crashing every time I log in

Need more info. Where is it crashing? When FFXI loads? Or after you pick character?

Had the same thing start happening to me after the latest update. It always froze up after loading the Find plugin. Between that, the graphical fuckery and losing total control of my characters at random, moving back to 3.4 for now.

Hard to explain. The mouse just doesnt work at all, which is fine for in-game because i don't play with the mouse, but it's not letting me click and drag the window around and trying to maximize or minimize using the butons in the top right corner causes the game to half-freeze. It eventaully works in the end, but it's a huge pain in the ass and i'm told that it makes my character red-dot, which could cause probllems in the future.

Only started once I installed windower4, and even going back to the previous version of windower it does it now too. Makes me think it's a setting somewhere that's fucked up.

bump! No one else has had this problem? No one at all?

Having quite a weird bug, that isn't game breaking, but kind of annoying.
Every time my game sees a job ability being used, the entire screen darkens: Chat log, characters, plugins, the lot. Only FF darkens though. Chrome, my desktop, folders, and other things in the background stay the same. About 30 seconds after this, the game will brighten, until another JA animation plays. Anyone got a clue?

how can i make it so that screenshots dont go into a zone folder but are just done by character and then date?

had that in windower 3.4 but that was in the init

Is there anyway to move Zonetimer? It currently overlaps with Infobar, but I'm content with Infobars position, I'd rather Zonetimer be the top left corner, with Infobar next to it.

not sure if this is really win4 related but i think it is.

i am having this issue in audolin that i seem to be getting heavy lag like i havent experienced before, even with 3 char on the same PC, when i draw my GS the animation is wrong (pulls it of my back in an akward way) and when i WS i dont see the animation or just it starting of, mostly i just blink out of my tp gear and back into it.

also on my screen my gear doesnt seem to switch back correctly, i end up in a mix of gear but when i examine myself i am in the correct gearset. so on screen i got different gear then i am actually wearing. i also dont use blinkmenot.

all this has been hapening since i started using windower4 so i assume its due to it but cant say so for sure, also mostly curious if anyone else is experiencing something like that.

edit: using a JA or spell also causes a huge lagspike.

It's possible something in your registry got messed up. If so, set the FFXI Config to all normal levels, run Windower 3.431 and set "advanced" options to either normal resolution or "off" or something minimal and run the game once. That could fix it?

I'm not sure if there's any programs out there that can "fix" your corrupt FFXI registry (that's why all the third party tools are "use at your own risk") But I may look into it for Windower 4.1 or something.

Is there a fixed being worked on for this weird texture glitch? Avatars looking like they came straight out of FFIV is pretty lame.

Posted before but:

You can see how gross the right sides of the avatars look. Doesn't seem to matter what resolution I set or whether supersampling is on or off. I've tried changing the texture compression in the FFXI Config but it keeps getting set back to Low (as do my maps). I've never had this problem before. Lights do this too, although right now they look okay and I have no idea why.

That graphical monstrosity has nothing to do with Supersampling but rather with Texture compresson and on-screen maps.
By default they get forced to values 1 (compressed) and 0 (compressed) by Windower 4.
If you want to change them you need to do it manually in Windows registries. Look for values 18 and set it to 2, look for value 19 and set it to 1.
Need to do it AFTER you launched Windower and you're on POL. BEFORE you get into FFXI.
