No idea how to do registry editing, but I tried changing things back to Uncompressed and then running 3.4, and avatars still look FUBAR'd, so either Windower 4 tweaked something that I can't fix with the FFXI Config tool, or something else is to blame.

I also experience a lot more slowdown (I had none in 3.4) now during things like Voidwatch where animations are flying everywhere. I had a constant framerate of 29.4 in 3.4 using the same resolution, but even with supersampling off (which I assume adds to the strain) I experience framerate drops into the low 20s, and I'm not sure why.

Anyone know the answer to this? Didn't see any responses after posted or is it a known bug?

This. The graphical options within launcher3.4 would allow me to play 2 instances on my laptop with Virtual Boy level of graphics without lag. With Windower4, there are options (like super sampling) that I'd like to change to something other than 1 or 2, but I can't. I used to be able to run windows at 800x600 with a background of 640x640 if I wanted, but I can't do that now.

There is so much that I love about Windower4, but having fewer options from the launcher than the old version is annoying to me.

Having just fiddled around with Regedit for the first time, changing the texture compression didn't seem to help. However, it seems that even with Supersampling off, my background resolution stays at double my screen resolution.

Still experience crashes when I /shutdown 100% of the time as well.

Windower4 sets those two things to "1" and "0" each time you start it.
That's why I said you need to change those values every time after you launched pol through Windower4, before entering FFXI.

3.4 shouldn't mess with those settings though.

Either way, I figured out the registry hacking and it made no difference. It would be helpful to have some input from a dev to try and figure out what's going on here. I've next to no experience messing about with graphics, but I can run FF14 on Max with no issues, and I was having no issues in 11 before trying Windower 4, so it seems to me that the slowdown and fucked up avatars are in some way related to the new Windower. After scanning through the Windower 4 thread on FFXIAH, it seems like I'm not the only one with these issues, so some communication beyond "my install seems okay" would be appreciated.

I have apparently finally figured out the problem where it drops to < 2 fps when I load a second/third character. If you are loading up 2 characters, get one loaded up, take a deep breath and count to 10, then load the second. Logging into 2 characters too close together apparently is what is causing the problem.

Any word from anyone on if G15/binder is working yet?

    Hey all~

Pushed an update out for Timers to fix an issue with custom timers, RUN's "Rune Enchantment" and timers duplicating when they expire. Delete your icons folder inside the plugins folder before updating to get the new HD icons!

It's working (for my G11 at least), but the syntax for the aliases has changed. In my case it went from m#g#[#] to g11_m#g#[#].

Having gone back through my screenshots, I've found evidence of avatars almost always looking borked. I'm wondering if I unwittingly installed tweaked avatar dats (the non-glowing ones, maybe?) at some point that made them look better.

I'm still trying to figure out what's causing all this slowdown though. Prior to v4, I never experience framerate drops anywhere, ever. Now I drop down to ~18 FPS in Qilin parties, and my graphics settings are theoretically the same (or slightly lower even, thanks to the forced texture/map compression). It's also a plugin that's causing my crashing on /shutdown, but other than it not being guildwork, I'm not sure what plugin is causing it.

If anyone knows a fix for those avatars though, I'd like to know. Now I can't unsee it, haha.

I'm not sure if there's any programs out there that can "fix" your corrupt FFXI registry (that's why all the third party tools are "use at your own risk") But I may look into it for Windower 4.1 or something.

That fixed it in 3.4, but it still does it in 4.0. What should i try next? -_- does windower 4 use a different registry key or something?

This is what I got for the old 3.4 file that worked pre SoA:

Binder will recognize the G15 when it loads, but cannot bind/get any macros to work.

I really dont care much about 3.4, i'm using windower 4 now but the issue happens on both. I have confirmed that it DOES NOT happen on vanilla POL using similar settings.

And besides all that, how would a corrupted registry key cause my mouse cursor to disappear?

would a game reinstall fix the registry issues, if those turn out to be the culprit?
Try ticking x64 in the launcher. It gives you that registry message when you don't, on 64bit systems

Load up 4.0, launch POL with it, start logging in and while you're logging in, go to your 3.4 launcher and start a version of that. Close the new POL (3.4) window and continue logging in with the 4.0 version. It's an annoying work-around, but it should fix it.

Didnt work. I actually went ahead and logged in with my 2nd character using the 3.4 launcher, would that screw it up?

No, as long as 3.4 was launched after the 4.0 POL started (and before you logged into FFXI with it), I don't see why it would. Doesn't sound like a registry problem then, rather an issue with you and 4.0.

meh i can go back to 3.4 i guess, but i really like the send.lua addon. saves me from having to run an external app. Would reinstalling w4 help?

    EDIT: reinstalling w4 didnt help.

    EDIT2:

Fuck yeah, it works! it was mouse_blockinput. no fucking idea how it got turned on it's not in my inits or anything.

Dunno why i didnt think of it first.

    EDIT3:

it's being reset whenever i re-log in, where would something like that be stored you think? I can just stick mouse_blockinput 0 in my init.txt to fix it, but it'd be nice to know how it happened.

Seby<somenumbershere> Took the time to rework my btimers addon a bit. He significantly updated it.
    Here is the git: https://github.com/Windower/Lua/tree...s/BuffDuration

He did rename it, it's now called buffduration, so keep that in mind. Read the readme on the page i linked. it tells you what you need to download. Also, remember, just right-clicking and saving-target as does not work in github. If you want to do that you must click -> right click the raw button. Seeing as how this should be better than btimers i highly suggest upgrading, especially seeing as i don't even use btimers so i don't see bugs and such.

I almost wonder if it has something to do with the overlays for one of the plugins or something. That's really all that changes between versions (if you manually fix your registry entries before logging in every time).
