Not sure if this is windower4 related or not, but, yesterday I hit my ranged attack macro (/ra <stnpc>) and nothing would happen. It wasn't firing at whatever was targeted. Nothing at all would happen. /ra <t> worked fine.
All my other <stnpc> macros worked.
Any ideas?
In the continuing saga of "What the fuck, Windower4?":
I use MotionJoy (http://www.motioninjoy.com/) to use a PS3 controller on my Laptop. Prior to today's many, many hook updates, I could Alt+Tab between 3 instances of FFXI and the controller would function properly on each individual instance. Shit, I even started using SwitchMon to use the controller itself to swap between instances.
Such is not the case anymore. For whatever reason, the controller attaches to once instance of FFXI and ignores all the rest. I went as far as uninstalling MotionJoy and it's drivers, and re installing and still nothing. It sticks to one character, and no one else.
When using 3.4, it seamlessly functions like before. Is there anyone out there that can possibly explain, and/or offer a fix? I really, really want to continue using W4, but I just keep getting so many random errors and crashes, that it's just making everything not fun.![]()

Multiple people reported this on FFXIAH earlier, temporary workarounds posted there. Haven't tried logging in for a few hours to see if it's fixed or not yet. I just unplugged my internet cable so it couldn't update and loaded two instances of windower and plugged it back in to log in, works fine. Something about the Hook.dll downloading again with each new instance seemed to be screwing the controllers up somehow.
This is the issue. I'm no windower dev but I can say it with much certainty.
It's actually something I wanted to complain about. Say I'm logged in to 3 characters, and one of them crashes and I have to relog it. Open windower, if there's a new hook, my controller gets completely fucked, if there's a new luacore, ipc will only function between instances that had the same luacore loaded. (I believe, didn't bother testing extensively but it's an obvious conclusion), which basically means, I have to restart every instance, which is a huge mother fucking pain in the ass.
edit: just logging in my characters, it seems this instance of non-stop re-download has been fixed, but it's still an issue at its core
Plugins reload themselves on all open instances when you re-run the launcher and they version update. I don't know what would happen if Aureus changed IPC and only one of your characters was on the hook with the change.
IPC is handled as part of hook, not lua or any other plugins, so it won't be affected by reloads.
As for the controller, I agree that's an issue, but I'm not really sure that I see a way around it. Once things stabilize, hook updates should become less frequent though, and plugin updating is handled in a much more transparent way (auto-reloaded, for example).
Ok, hook then, but I've still had issues where certain characters dc, I relog them, and send only works with the characters who were already logged in and the new one doesn't (guess it's listening on a different port), until I relog everyone, which is a pita.
That -should- be fixed now too. I added some checks to reconnect the IPC sockets if a failure is detected, so if they get confused it should just drop the connection and reconnect.
If you're still reliably having this problem, some info on how to recreate it on my end would be appreciated. I'd like to get the connection issues with IPC worked out ASAP, but I'm having difficulty recreating them when I test it.

In case you need more information about this.
Win XP 64bit, Windwer 4.
No clue, I'm not home atm.
Yesterday in the end I had to give up playing not because of Windower 4 but because of XI-Utils.
It's strange but some days it just doesn't want to work, the day after everything is smooth. /shrug
Speaking about it, here's a screenshot:

I might be wrong and maybe it's a coincidence, but I think I started having these issues (which are random, don't happen all the time) since when I updated the windowerhelper.dll.
I used a zip file which I found... I don't remember where, in this thread or on windower.net, I forgot.
The zip file was a bit confusing because there were no instructions and many folders, all with a windowerhelper.dll and 3 other files. I think I just took the 3 inside the Windows7 x64 folder and put them in the root of my XI-Utils installation. Only one file was overwritten of course.
Maybe this is what is causing me problems? Consider that I don't even use other XI-Utils addons, just Sandbox, did I even have to update it? How can test if this is the cause of my issue and eventually solve it by reverting windowerhelper.dll sometimes?
As I said before, I'm not 100% sure that problems started after I updated windowerhelper.dll
Hey all,
Since we're getting a constant influx of PMs and emails from people, as well as people writing posts in threads that are just getting longer and messier by the minute, I wanted to re-enforce our issues tracker.
Any issues that can't be fixed through discussing with other players, as in, actual problems with Windower, either 3.4 or 4.0, we ask that you please go to our issues tracker and create an issue as appropriate using our template.

Drawdistance defaults to 10.0. Is there a way to change the default to 30.0?
Add into your init .txt a line saying
Code:drawdistance set 30;
