    Battlemod

    Normal swing only showing -

    Name hit -> Monster.
    No dmg shown.

    Is that the purpose ?
Only DMG I can see is the WS dmg.

During a break at my workplace, I thought I'd fire up the ol' FFXI. I took the following steps:

    1. Navigated to the Windower 4 installation I'd plopped on another drive. (It hadn't been natively installed in the OS I was presently operating in, although FFXI is registered in all of my compatible OSes. I haven't investigated the registry yet to see whether Windower relies upon it at all for its own functionality or not.)
    2. Started it up, used the existing profile, and muled and generally cleaned up my characters' inventories for a while.
    3. Unloaded StaggerTrack, and continued muling, AHing, etc., as normal.
    4. Chatted on my LS for a while, and as I planned to start it up again later, I then entered the console and typed "unloadall."
    5. BSOD while I had a bunch of open work-related scripts and other things I was working on in the background. Hilaaaarious.

Now, of course, I'm not unreasonably mad. Software crashes, and this is in beta. I back things up routinely, and have things set up to be redundant both locally (for work-related matters) and remotely (for personal and non-confidential work-related matters, such as browsing tabs), so I didn't really lose any work. However, I was unfortunately being a terrible person, and did not have a debugger running.

I'll do that in the future, but the TL;DR is: I unloaded all of my plugins and violently bluescreened, and I'm documenting this here before I forget, as I can't comment on the bug tracker at the moment.

Is there any way to activate native robust logging in Windower of any kind, like a command line switch or some such? I'll probably not be retarded and have WinDbg running in the future, but I still wish I had some sort of log of that instance and what I was doing.

So my W4 still crashes on startup occasionally. I can't conclusively say what's causing it but anecdotally if I hit the "Agree" message upon loading the game immediately, before all the plugins start loading then I'm fine, but if I hit Agree whilst the plugins are all trying to load, it freezes up. Anyone else have this?

Edit: Also, I checked my spamfilter.txt in the plugins folder, and the term "BR0SALE" is listed there as filtered. However, recently I've been getting a bunch of brosale tells with the phrase [BR0SALE].[C0M] in it. If "BR0SALE" is filtered, how are these tells getting through?

This doesn't appear to fix anything. I did the colortest, chose 501, bright red. Went into the colors file for battlemod, changed <mydmg> to 501 from 0, unloaded mod and loaded it again (did not exit FFXI) and still I get no numbers.

Is there something else I need to change?

The screenshot you posted above wouldn't show the damage number anyway; it is the number before the "Hit"/"Crit".

    Eg:

[Delekii] 104 Hit -> Death Waspe.

I dont know of any way to remove the number without filtering the whole line.. unless you changed something in the lua.

The left side of the screenshot shows the ] next to my characters name.

I changed nothing, I simply had my FFXI crash and I went back into it and battlemod was no longer showing me numbers.

There is currently a bug in the Lua API which fucked up the command handler if AutoJoin was loaded at startup (before logging in). I put in a workaround, which should fix it for now until the API gets fixed.

I'm always impressed how long people can go without logging out. I fixed the damage issue two days ago. Log out and back in if you actually want an updated version of battlemod.

Is it possible to get timers and buff duration to natively recognise when I am using Animated Wail and Battery Charge instead of plain Haste and Refresh as they both last a flat 5 minutes each and it gives a misleading end time for both

    Sorry ^^; If this has been fixed. I never logout, which is one reason I like Lua can automatic update ^.^;

Next thing, timers seems to update today... Problem is, timers setting didn't seem to change. But I got "Solid White as Background" i.e. I can't see the text at all. (I have graphic mode off)

Delete the Timers XML, delete Timers dll, select to download Timers again from the menu and you'll get the "new" version of the XML config.
Before deletign the old one open it and write the X/Y position so you'll be able to copy that on the new file.

Taking that one step further, would it be possible to create an addon/plugin that runs the launcher every x hours (and then closes it after finishing) while you are logged in to serve as automated updating?

Just outta curiosity, when theres an auto-plugin update that requires the user to delete other automatically generated files that arent downloaded at the time of the update, can we get a popup stating so?

"Your XXXX plugin was updated, please delete your settings/XXXX.xml file for the full changes to take effect and ensure there are no problems"

Would be better to just have a static settings file and a user override file. that way any settings not specified by the user are taken from the default settings file. wouldn't require deleting anything at all ever.

That's the best idea for it, imo. The way addons currently do it (if they use the config library to load/save settings) is that the settings.xml will be overwritten to include new elements and their default values whenever an update is pushed out. But I don't know how easy that would be to accomplish for plugins, since they don't use a customized XML parser.

The console can still track when a plugin is reloaded though can't it? Wouldn't it be easy to have an appropriately named custom settings file be run on the event, if you don't have the custom settings file then it can just be ignored.

    hello,

I haven't read the entire thread, sorry. My W4 crashes every time I log off, on two different computers. I log off almost every night. and when I do a shutdown, it just gives me a black screen and says it is non responsive.

Also, is there a way to move the times in the top center of the screen? info bar (I think) covers them up most of the time.

    Thanks in advance.
