Has anyone ever come across this error. I use Windower 4 go to log in and I get some message about password encryption, and that it won't save my password even though I typed it, and I use the security token etc....So after inputing both passwords and the 6 digit code from the token it won't log me into POL so now I have been temporarily suspended out of my own account. Anybody know what that password encryption crap is about?

Do you have any USB devices plugged in? Sometimes those trigger weird things to happen.

I have a few plugged in which I don't understand why all of the sudden I would get the message even though I've been using Windower 4 since I returned to the game a few months ago. I don't have flash drives, or smart card readers hooked up just an xbox controller keyboard and the wireless receiver for my mouse.

Check the security settings option on the initial POL screen (Where you click which POL ID you want to use). It has nothing to do with windower, its a pol settingle. Maybe you accidently clicked this?

I think I accidently clicked on the security settings tab by mistake, but after restarting my pc, and changing the actual POL password through Square-Enix site I was able to log on with no problems.

This weekend my windower somehow crapped out on me and I'm not sure how to fix it. It crashes every time that I hit play and it tries to load the ToS screen. Loading without windower works fine. I've uninstalled windower, deleted the windower4 folder, and re-installed it but it still crashes in the same spot. Any suggestions?

Edit: So reading up on windower forums, it seems like this might be a Windows 8 issue. Strange because I've been running windower4 since it came out on my Windows 8 machine and it just now started giving me issues.

For the Sandbox plugin on Windower 4. Is there anything I need to know before using it? I've kept using XI-Util this whole time, and I know to unsandbox before updates. Anything I need to know about the Sandbox plugin or is it set it and forget it?

as far as i know its jut load it on ur characters and thats all. you dont need XI utils tho if you use it just in case u didnt know. I am not even sure how it works since as far as i can tell it doesnt make two different directories though

Nothing to know, it's much user-friendlier. However, it has been reported that XI-Util also eliminated the chatlog blanking bug, whch Sandbox doesn't do.

It does actually create different directories, but it does that inside the POL user directory, which is why you probably didn't notice it.

Once the Send addon and Sandbox plugin were both added I stopped using utils.

Its purpose is to eliminate the crash when looking up the chatlog which happens when dualboxing sometime. The cause of the chatlog blanking bug is still unknown, although rumored to be chat-input related.

No, they remain. You can look them up in your FFXI installation's SquareEnix/FINAL FANTASY XI/TEMP folder.

What is strange is I used to have the blank chatlog thing happen to me all the time and, like the above poster, haven't seen it since enabling sandbox. So it must help a lot.

They do appear to be correlated although I'm not certain in what way. For now it does what it was set out to do, so we're dealing with other issues atm, but eventually we'd like to properly sort the chatlog blanking issue out as well.

Yes XI-utils always solved it, except when one of the sandbox crashed and you found both characters logged under the same sandbox and the second empty, or another thing I had to happen was:
Sandbox1: Char1+char2
Sandbox2: Char2

In all these circumstances the "bug" appeared again, but they were very rare for me. When XI-Utils wasn't "crashing" the chatlog was perfect.
Just like Trumpy I'm surprised though, I thought the main purpose of Sandboxing was solving the chatlog issues, both the "blanking" one, and the other one where you had lines of char2 into char1's log.
I didn't even know about this "crash when opening chatlog" bug.

Are you guys working to expand Sandbox plugin utility and allowing it to fix the chatlog thing, in the future?

I switched from XI-utils to the sandbox plugin months ago. I've seen the wiped log glitch once since then(and I was on the test server at the time, so.)

Ideally we'd fix every flaw of FFXI, but there's a long way to go for that^^

Like I said, it does what it should for now, we'll look into it further when there are fewer other things to worry about.

So does sandbox plugin work on Window 7+ only still? Or does it work for XP now. I know XI util version only worked on windows 7 because of an OS feature, so I'd assume its the same here?

They're implemented very differently, so it might work (I don't see why it shouldn't based on its function calls).
