The people bitching about accuracy when playing paintball were obviously using shit paint. Accuracy is great with good paint matched to your barrel size.

I'd like to point out the stereotype of paintballers being dicks... i've been threadjacked...
/thread.
I've been researching airsoft this weekend. My nephew really wants me to play this with him so I may give it a shot, but it's hard to figure out the best entry point. Most guides are pointing to spring propelled as a good beginner style gun to see if you're going to like it but I don't know if I want to buy something sub par. (But don't want to drop the bank on toy guns when I haven't tried out the game before either).
Don't buy a spring gun unless it's a sniper rifle, you won't be able to keep up with anybody on the field. Bare minimum I would suggest is a gas powered pistol (gbb or nbb) and even then the range, ammo capacity, and fire rate is going to be nothing compared to an AEG.
I played for about 3-4 years when I was younger, dropped a couple grand into a couple of pistols, a fully built rifle, and my gear. It's a fun game, I liked it because everything looks a lot more realistic than paintball and you don't drive home smearing paint (oil) in your car. The major difference is it all relies on the honor system because there isn't a big splat of paint to see when someone has been hit.
I fail to see how airsoft can be enjoyable when there is no way to tell who shoots who without some massive honor systems, so i would be restricted to never playing with strangers ever. Hell i get shot in paintball and don't even notice half the time until i ask ref for a paintcheck.
i tend to just let the paint rain on until they start to feel pain.
ROFL
caps lock, damn work
got my first gbb pistol, a glock 18c, as made famous by morpheus from 'matrix reloaded' and patrice from 'skyfall'. goodness that gas stinks something fierce. i see occasional "pistol only" events that take place in urban settings, so now i'll be able to join in for those. i'm psyched about getting to get out there and actually do it up.

I play paintball, but I haven't gone in years. I have a 2009 Invert Mini and I absolutely love it. I haven't tried airsoft because I'm too prone to believing that people won't call themselves out if they don't have a giant paint splotch on them.
