St. Patrick's Day 2013

I was reading about some independent brewer's suggestion of celebrating Repeal Day instead of St. Patrick's/Cinco De Mayo as the holiday excuse to get completely shitfaced, but it's December 5th so I'm not sure how well that would take between the two major holidays when money is kinda tight and you're already running your body into the ground.

Gonna be throwing a bunch of corned beef, cabbage, potatos, etc into the crock pot for probably 10~12 hours and then eat as much of that deliciousness as I can.

Usually I go to Vaughan's in Jefferson Park, small, cozy, actual off-the-boat Irish people, close to the Blue Line stop so you can get shitty without driving, and pretty killer food. Their curry fries appetizer is insanely good.

There's one on the north side in Lakeview as well.

The Irish Oak is selling tickets for packages, comes with Breakfast and whatnot if you were talking about that bar. I would stay far away from this, because it's pretty much dead center Wrigley.

O'Hagans was a good spot, but it's closed now. That's probably the one you're thinking. It's right under the red line.



As for me, I live in that area (Addison&Racine) so I get enough of these drunken bros. I'll be down by Old Town for a majority of the day.

why do asians hate corned beef? Are there any out here to prove that wrong? I have yet to meet one (seems like 95% of my friends in Cali are some form of asian) and I always make my husband salmon on St. Patty's day since he doesn't like it.

My moms japanese and loves corned beef. I'm a halfy, and don't find the stuff very appetizing.

Thoughts of St. Patrick's day in NYC: 1) They had the parade on Saturday instead of Sunday for religious purposes; Not even Ireland, in all its Catholic fervour tries to regulate this. 2) Its the biggest parade in the world, mainly because every high school, police department and fire station with 'emerald' connections were in it....all doing the same thing...wearing kilts while playing the bag pipes (again not particularly Irish). While in the snow for 2 hrs, not once did I see a float, or anything creative. 3) While the NYC parade organisers go to great length to exclude any LGBT organisation from participating (going to the supreme court multiple times), they give a worldwide platform for divisive (arguably archaic?) issues (see picture). #St.Patrick'sDayNYCStopBastardizingYourself
