After an absence from last year’s show, Microsoft will return to Gamescom in Cologne this August with “the next chapter of Xbox gaming experiences,” according to Xbox EMEA social marketing manager Graeme Boyd.

“Xbox will be back at gamescom this August,” said Boyd on Twitter. “Next chapter of Xbox gaming experiences” on show. Can’t wait, LOVE gamescom.”

New PS4 reveals

Speaking to Gamereactor, Ryan confirmed Sony’s strategy to drip-feed the full PS4 lineup over the span of the PS4 reveal, E3 2013, and Gamescom:

“There’s a lot coming. I’m sure you heard from Shu [Yoshida] that he has, just his studios, he has 30 games in development. 20 are going to ship within the console’s first year of life, and of those 12 are new IPs… There’s a lot going on, it’s just we need to keep stuff back. We’ve Gamescom for us Europeans, and we need to have something to show at Gamescom don’t we?!”

Capcom won't attend, opts for TGS instead

Capcom has confirmed to VG247 that it will not attend this year’s gamescom expo in Cologne.

In an email to VG247, a Capcom rep said “We’re not attending gamescom this year.”

The company has a few titles in the works, including DuckTales Remastered at WayForward Technologies, but it has remained quiet on many in-house projects, such as Deep Down, which was first shown at Sony’s PS4 reveal.

Microsoft planning an hour-long Gamescom press conference

Microsoft has notified event organisers and third party studios that it plans to host a press conference at Gamescom in August, CVG has learned.

Although it is not believed that a final date has been set, nor is there a complete schedule of what is to be shown, CVG understands that certain developers have already been briefed and that Microsoft will announce its plans shortly.

A spokesperson for the company said: "We're excited to be back at Gamescom this year but we're not announcing any further details on our plans at this time. Please stay tuned for more details!"

The one-hour media briefing will be the first of its kind that Microsoft has held in the event's history - and is another signal of its dedication to attain a better foothold in Europe.

Sony Press Conference announced

Sony will hold its Gamescom press conference this year on August 20 at the Saatenhaus am Rheinpark in Cologne, it has announced.

The company is expected to show off more PlayStation 4. Sony Europe CEO Jim Ryan previously teased new game reveals for the event.

The conference will begin at 7 p.m. CET / 6 p.m. BST / 1 p.m. EDT / 10 a.m. PDT. Doors will open an hour before the show begins.

Last year’s Gamescom saw several announcements from Sony, including Until Dawn, Rain, Puppeteer, Killzone: Mercenary, Tearaway, and the PlayStation 3 and PS Vita Cross-Buy program.

Microsoft, too

Microsoft will host its Gamescom showcase event at Dock One in Cologne on August 20, it has announced.

Microsoft corporate VPs Phil Spencer and Phil Harrison will co-host the event, where the company will share specifics about Xbox One’s self-publishing capabilities.

And EA, but not Ubisoft

That's according to the latest issue of MCV, which states that EA's press conference will take place at 3pm (UK time) on Tuesday, August 20.

At its GamesCom 2012 conference, EA announced Army of Two: The Devil's Cartel and Battlefield 3 Premium Edition, confirmed Dead Space 3 and FIFA 13 demo release dates, and revealed SimCity was headed to Mac.

Sony will hold its Gamescom press conference at 6pm on August 20. Ubisoft won't hold a conference, despite having done so in 2010, 2011 and 2012, although it will still have a booth at the show.

EA Line-up & stream link announced

EA has announced its lineup for Gamescom 2013, as well as the date and time for its press briefing.

From August 21 in Cologne, Germany, nearly 500 hands-on demo stations will be at the convention for Battlefield 4, Command & Conquer, FIFA 14, The Sims 4, Need for Speed Rivals. and Titanfall.

They also announced that “select mobile titles” will be available from EA All Play, Chillingo and PopCap.

EA’s conference is scheduled for August 20 at 4 p.m. CEST.

Blizzard Conference

Blizzard will host a press conference at gamescom on August 21 at 11:30AM, and while the developer didn’t specify the contents of the talk, it did tease something to do with “the Heavens, Burning Hells and all the shadowed places that lie between.” So, expect the team to discuss Diablo 3′s console versions. During gamescom 2011, Blizzard talked about World of Warcraft, Heart of the Swarm and Diablo 3. The conference won’t be livestreamed, but VG247 will be attending gamescom as usual and will let you know what comes out of this.

Today, Ubisoft revealed its lineup of games for Gamescom, where attendees can get hands on demonstrations of a number of the company’s next-gen titles, including Assassin’s Creed IV Black Flag, The Crew and the Watch Dogs TM companion app. Ubisoft also plans to share details on a new next-gen IP currently in development during the show.
