Your school should have subscriptions to various databases that contain peer reviewed research.
For me: School website > Library's page > databases > pick one > search with "peer reviewed" option checked.
If you speak to a librarian at your university they can show you how your school does it and what databases you have subscriptions to.
However, this is assuming you are a student and not looking for scholarly journals without being a student.
Usually ebscohost. Like posted above, your school should have access to this stuff.
Ah, yeah, forgot to mention google scholar. It's a good tool to use when you are looking for a wide array of sources and trying to make sure you didn't miss anything. EBSCOhost is what I usually use, but since I am a history major I generally delve into their "political science/history" database that my school has access to. One of the things you need to do when picking a database through your school is see which subjects the certain databases cover, because often times a single database company will have one for each subject. This will make your search a lot easier as well.
ScienceDirect, Web of Knowledge, SportsDiscus, PsycINFO and CINAHL are the ones i use for psychology, sports, medicine, health and nutrition papers. ScienceDirect will also have a lot of physics, biology, cehmistry, those kinds of sciences in there as well.
Awesome, just what I was lookin for. Thanks guys
www.jstor.org is also an option, but I think Google Scholar catches just about everything on there. jstor is good though if you're searching for something that crosses multiple disciplines. It's been a major help in avoiding econ articles while I've been working on my prospectus recently >.>
