OTL talked about headgear, 4th pitcher in last 4 months of regular/postseason play to be struck. People are worried about how long before someone is killed as that was the initial reaction to Happ, that he was dead since the ball ricocheted so far. Brandon McCarthy had a fractured skull, epidural hemorrhaging, and brain contusion requiring immediate surgery when he was struck in Sept.

Pretty much every pitcher struck recently said that a padded cap wouldn't make a difference because of where they were struck. The cap line or bill is above where they were hit.

God damn MLB sucks when it comes to disciplining umps. The umpire who blew the pitching change rule in the Houstan/LAA game yesterday gets a 2 day suspension and fine, but yet Angel Hernandez who not once, but twice managed to miss a home run so obvious Hellen Keller could have spotted it gets nothing.

What makes it even worse is that the pitching change one wasn't even that egregious since the rule was just changed this year, and its kind of ambiguous the way its written now.

Of all sports officials, I think baseball umpires are the worst. And not because they get calls wrong, that happens in all sports, but because they are so damn stubborn about it. Poor character to make a mistake and be bull headed and not admit you screwed up. Also, their smug sense of self importance like they run MLB. The ump that tossed Harper a few days ago was ridiculous, you could tell he was targeting him and was happy he had the chance to do it.

Reminds me of that game a few years back where Shane Victorino got tossed by the home plate ump for "arguing balls and strikes" while standing in CF. The ump later said he rolled his eyes and threw his arms up in the air, and that's why he got tossed.
