So how long til the Marlins trade Fernandez?
Damnit Vaspine, was just about to post that.
Sox clinched AL East.
VALENTINE
.The Philadelphia Phillies have removed the "interim" tag on Ryne Sandberg and say he will return as manager in 2014 with a three-year contract through 2016 and a club option for 2017.
The club announced the move Sunday morning before its final home game of the season, against the New York Mets.
"We feel that Ryne has the qualities and leadership skills that are essential to move our club and our organization forward," general manager Ruben Amaro Jr. said in a statement. "Ryne's six years as a minor league manager, Hall of Fame credentials and work ethic warrant this opportunity."
The Phillies have gone 18-16 under Sandberg since the firing of longtime manager Charlie Manuel on Aug. 16. They had lost 19 of 22 games before Manuel's firing.
2 bombs from Andrelton Simmons, Braves finally clinch the East
NL playoff teams all but decided
Still have a shot at the division
just read a bleacher report headline: Braves had turned down monster offer from Rangers for Justin Upton before deadline
so I clicked on it to see what this monster offer was...
Matt Garza, Joe Nathan, and David Murphy. All free agents after this season.
lol
Manny machado ded
I don't think I've ever seen a decline as steep and as fast as Roy Halladay's the past 2 years. He doesn't even belong on a AA team at this point.
Wow, somehow Machado didn't tear his ACL or MCL and won't need surgery. Should be able to begin rehab in 6-8 weeks.
PRAISE BRONZE JESUS
Lol at the butthurt Braves getting punked by Gomez, and then 2-hit shutout by Lohse.
What's up with that Gomez story? I'm not much of a baseball fan, but I happen to see this video: http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/mlb-bi...5900--mlb.html
Why are they so mad?
Gomez and Paul Maholm pretty much hate each other, dating back a few years. Gomez comes up in the first inning, takes a trademarked huge cut at the first Maholm fastball, misses it, tries again on the second, cranks it into the left-center stands. Admires his handiwork in Gomez-esque fashion, McCann or Freeman starts barking to "start running", he starts barking back as he rounds the bases, points to his knee (which Maholm hit earlier this season) and keeps barking back. As he approaches home, McCann has made his way 10 feet up the 3rd base line to meet him along with the ump, they start barking, benches clear (Gomez still hasn't touched home plate) Reed Johnson barges through throwing an elbow or something at Gomez, everyone else mills around. Gomez was given the home run due to McCann's obstruction.
Gomez and Freddy Freeman (for some reason) and Gerald Laird (for some reason) were ejected. For some reason McCann and Reed Johnson weren't.
Typical baseball-police shit from the Braves, basically, compounded by incompetent umps.
And then they got dominated by Kyle Lohse in 89 pitches.
