Bit of data on Indi-Barrier, since I started using it when skilling up.
Barrier: +23/256 defense @ 275 skill (169 -> 184, 186 > 202)
Barrier: +23/256 defense @ 276 skill (169 -> 184, 186 > 202)
Barrier: +24/256 defense @ 277 skill (169 -> 184, 186 > 203)
277 = 160 + 9 * 13
Predicted: +15/256 min at 160 total skill (capped skill for level 28, when spell is available); +1/256 every 13 skill.
Skillup rates slowed to a crawl after 280 total skill; I expect the next change to be at 290 total skill, but will have to get back to it later. (and missed seeing skill hit 290 when I was in an xp party...)
Barrier: +24/256 defense @ 289 skill (169 -> 184, 186 > 203)
..
Barrier: +24/256 defense @ 291 skill (214 > 234)
..
Barrier: +24/256 defense @ 296 skill (191 > 208)
Barrier: +24/256 defense @ 297 skill (191 > 208)
Barrier: +24/256 defense @ 298 skill (191 > 208)
Barrier: +24/256 defense @ 299 skill (191 > 208)
Barrier: +25/256 defense @ 300 skill (191 > 209, 178 > 195)
Possibly an error on SE's part? As in, they intended to go from 15 to 25 between 160 and 300 skill, thus 1 point per 14 levels, but did 1 point per 13 levels, then jumped to +10 at 300 skill?
Cap is 17%.. ~87/512
Going to /512 units, if 300 skill is 25/256, that's 50/512. Going to 51/512, 191 base def will increase to 210. So, an increase in either /256 or /512 will both increase boosted defense. Find the skill point where defense increases for 191>210, and check other values to spot the difference between them.
Barrier: +25/256 defense @ 307 skill (191 > 209)
....
Barrier: +25/256 defense @ 323 skill (191 > 209)
Barrier: +26/256 defense @ 324 skill (191 > 210) [Handbell 160, Geomancy 164]
(178 > 196, so /256, not /512)
Probably caps at 780 skill? That would be another +20/256 beyond 300 skill, for 45/256 total (17.5%)
Would reach +18/256 over 300 skill (total of 43/256) at 732 skill, the highest tier you could currently get, and in line with the rough estimate Kumbai made (~16.6%; 43/256 = 16.8%).
And it's possible I made an error in the first estimate. 276 would be 24 skill below 300. That would put minimum skill at 60, with +15/256 defense, and +1/256 per 24 skill above that.
If anyone has a completely unskilled geomancer, they could verify the minimum defense boost. Might even be earlier in this thread; would have to go digging.
So, current formula estimate: (15 + floor((skill-60)/24))/256
Get assistance from a job without any MAB (eg: Sch, no MAB gear, no MAB sub), that won't have to worry about Cardinal Chant messing things up. Test with 2-3 different nukes against a neutral mob (not a whm or other job with natural MDB, doesn't have Shell, etc) to get different base numbers, put up Indi, and test the same spells again. Post numbers, and we can figure it out.
Results incoming!
Thunder 2: 261
Indi-Malaise: 297
Blizzard 2: 239
Indi-Malaise: 271
Aero 2: 197
Indi-Malaise: 223
Tested each x5 to make sure no flukes happened (Thunder 2 critted 3 times in a row.. made me excited then I realised what happened!)
Appears to be 13% increase in dmg across the board~ not sure what that equates to in -MDB though.
Got your info from here and from FFXIAH and i must say it is awesome. A party slot with AF etc maybe justified with the effects stacking. Just like a cor was lol'd at and is now a staple. Its worth mentioning our buffs have a max 10 sec recast so we can change or recast a dead geo rapidly. Something i think maybe overlooked.
Edit. I mean for stratagy you can run to cardinal point for geo recast (fastcast) and run back for mab/macc. only slightly different from a cor/brd running "in"
Well, with 0 FC/Haste gear my Geo-Frailty has 23 second recast~ So yeah, they're gonna be easy to reproduce. One thing I want to test next after the whole Luopan -DT stuff is if Bolster's potency will work on a Luopan after the effects wear off, or if it'll drop back down to NQ potency.
Edit: Put my results into my previous post. I'll do s'more nuking for more variation~
If they give us a merit haste* or regain spell even as meritable i can see Geo being a staple. takes up a dd slot maybe but -def/or +atk for all members must make that damage up
edit* tbh i don't think it is mandatory. i played with Thurgic Focus it turned my -ra spell to sigle target and eyeballing added +50% damage
Edit 2. If you could test that it would be ace. I only have one char so I cannot. I had gimped skill in abby but was doing 600ish T1 Blizzara and i was using it and getting 900ish at level 75ish. With Beyond. I tried on sheep (I can go back i have time and was doing 1300ish (lolgear) and 2000ish with focus
Theurgic Focus would be easy enough to test~ anyone be able to because it's a JA and not skill dependent.
As was mentioned earlier, SE had said that GEO was going to have regain. There is a suspicious gap between refresh and refresh In the GEO magic dats. The theory is that the lvl 40 quest will give us a new bell and Indi-Regain.

-ra = single target
I',m a little drunk and forgot how to divide percentages
Appears to be about a 20% damage increase to the spells~ Abyssea isn't the most reliable of source in my experience though. I like to go to a level 1 zone and nuke the same mob over and over~ might wanna avoid being in the MAB+ CC direction too.
(#1 = +21.9%, #2 = +22.4%)
I had 20 hrs time here so using to skill =(
+20% every 5 mins isnt omg lets go home and tell the family how i did +20% damage though
Post 360 skill you find a good way of skilling? Post 360 combined skill ups died
People are talking about making massive pet -pdt shit. I srs dont think it is worth it with recast:
Drop slow: it dies. drop eva down etc and just full circle recast in under 30 seconds..... why bother.
Unsure if posted yet but
