Hmph, Foil seems as disappointing as I was suspected it would be. Let's hope for that AF/Relic pieces that enhances it brutally. Either duration, potency, or both if possible.

Here's an oddball question, Are RUN and GEO on any of the level 50 JSE bodys?
Foil is an enmity tool though. I don't see a lot of PLD complaining about flash duration, or that it's less potent against high-acc mobs. It's something they pop to get a bit more hate, I see Foil the same way I see Flash.
Didn't SE even say they were planning to boost the enmity on it further?
I think people were just hoping for a bit more from the jobs only unique spell. I agree though, it's an enmity tool with a defensive bonus. The fact that it's self targeted mean it can be used to build enmity on all the mobs on your hate list. Although I have some concerns about RUN trying to tank multiple mobs atm. <,<;; Hopefully SE gives it a good enmity boost.
i have yet to see myself evade any TP moves from any mob everytime foil is on ; ;
parry and GS A+ still baffles me.......
Really wish they got a higher EVA rate, that or buffed parry up enough to replace evasion.
I'm not sure about GEO but RUN is on the Cerise Doublet.
Embolden and Shell V? Waste due to caps?
Yeah I've been working a first qualification that whatever you use it on needs a 10min duration with Embolden applied to really be worthwhile. Also consider that I run Seigan/Third Eye for physical defense.
I'm not looking for a 'perfect' magic defense, just a good use for Embolden.
There is no good use for Embolden. Needs to be adjusted honestly.
I find that solo, Embolden Protect IV is a must. That puts you in the 520-550 defense range that is the minimum required to not receive too much damage. And, conversely, on group play, Embolden before a Protect(ra) V works wonders. A merited Protectra V with Relic feet +2 on an emboldened RUN is 330 defense... That's a bit over 700 defense without food or JAs (or being a PLD).
Still, something has to be done with Embolden. A AF piece that extends the duration of the buff to 75% its original duration, or that halves the recast, or increases the bonus to at least 1.75... I think the biggest problem is the short buff duration, but any of those improvements would be great.
So, I went back to beadeaux [S] with my cobbled together eva+ set and tested some more.
Test #6 Evasion+44
An extra 44 evasion seems to have done a great deal of nothing. In fact he seemed More accurate. With his skull smashes all landing perfectly. -.-;;Code:Ability Damage Taken Player Abil. Dmg Abil. % Hit/Miss A.Acc % A.Low/Hi A.Avg Martel 24688 100.00 % 306/13 95.92 % 0/662 80.68 - Head Butt 20302 82.23 % 292/13 95.74 % 0/323 69.53 - Skull Smash 4386 17.77 % 14/0 100.00 % 0/662 313.29
With my full supply of evasion gear having no effect, I decided to do some other tests rather than leave.. again.
First, I decided to stack up everything I had and see how much effect it had. Till now I'd been tanking unengaged to avoid hate issue on my healer, and to keep parries from affecting evasion rates.
Test #7: Swordplay, +44eva, Foil, and engaged
This part was pretty fun. For 2 min outta every 5. <,<;Code:Ability Damage Taken Player Abil. Dmg Abil. % Hit/Miss A.Acc % A.Low/Hi A.Avg Martel 1265 78.09 % 10/62 13.89 % 0/275 126.50 - Head Butt 1265 100.00 % 10/61 14.08 % 0/275 126.50 - Skull Smash 0 0.00 % 0/1 0.00 % 0/0 0.00
I did a brief Swordplay only test, but it got eaten when my PC crashed. Since that can be tested on normal mobs anyway, it'd best to do it that way. faster.
I did a few others, but looking at them now, I realized they don't really tell us anything.
That would put Swordplay and engaging around +80 Evasion. I'm not sure that engaging actually does anything for you unless you hit the monster (did you hit the monster?), so Swordplay may be ~+80 Evasion by itself.
Either way, this shows that RUN can get enough evasion against TP moves to overcome the first-hit Acc boost. Whether or not it's worth doing is another question.
Well, the point of engaging was to allow parries to proc. I didn't think there was an evasion bonus on sigil, is there?
Sorry if I missed it, but Tenacity's resistance message is the same as a normal Resist trait. As RUN/WAR with no food or any other factors I'll get a Resist! Rocl effects the effects of the spell. on debuffs like Silence/Bind et. al-- I have no desire to test the potency myself, but I figure I'd throw that out there.
I can't recall the answer to whether Sigil receives an EVA buff or not, but wouldn't engaging to parry mess up your results since a parried TP move will display in the log as a miss? I see that you mentioned something to that effect though so maybe I'm just misunderstanding something![]()
I'd hit the end of what I could test in terms of foil eva. +44 eva didn't uncap the mobs acc. So I wanted to see how much i could avoid using everything RUN had. Foil, Swordplay, Parrying. Which is that that last test was. It was by no means a precise test. Just did it cause I was there. All it really showed was that I could take a mob from way over capped WS acc, to 13%~ acc using RUN's Spells, JA, and parrying.
In any case swordplay can be tested on normal mobs, which is what I'll do if I decide to test it.
