Well I'm still really holding out hope for them to give us shield block-like partial parries.
Basically Guard then? But a parry version and I assume a higher proc rate! I can't see it happening really.
If Swordplay didn't already exist then they could have potentially had a Parry type stance as a merittable that gave PDT too but had some sort of trade off. Maybe they could add an enhancement to Swordplay through merits that gave PDT or something. I'm not sure it would be enough though given Swordplay is only up 40% of the time and gets cancelled if you take heavy damage.
they should just add a job trait that increases the likelyhodd of parrying and lets you parry physical TP moves, capping out at 50% parry rate against harder shit, the more parry skill + you have. That way RUN can still be hit by big dmg numbers, but you can lessen the threat with scherzo or AE.
Honestly I have no fucking clue what SEs Idea behind this kind of tank was. I guess I never will see RUN as a good tank no matter what, they should just call it a day and revamp the job totally and turn it into the best magical dmg DD with a trait/job ability that lets them do non-elemental magical dmg with physical Weaponskills (like Muresamemaru does).
Physical TP moves are parryable.
Run can cap haste in about 38-40% pdt and have JA to hold hate, sure it's not pld damage mitigation for now, but it really seems promising at the moment, can't wait to see merit/af stuff and those last Resort change.
If we go back to using tank, giving it too much physical dmg mitigation(like 50% parry rate on top of 40-50%pdt) would prolly obsolete paladin like nin did back then, SE prolly scared of that.
Do you have a link to this PDT/Haste set that a guy can peruse?
This seems to be the best I could gather for now, beside Dring/phos+1 nothing seems hard to get.

Right now it cleary won't, but if they add something as crazy as 50% parry rate+ we get elemental resistance high enough to ignore magic dmg(I can def see this beeing a reality now/very soon).
Run has higher dmg/better hate tool(it seems for now), I can see run tanking main NM and pld being put on add or something since we'll always use the tank with the better dmg/hate tool as long as it can stay alive and keep hate.
(This assuming they nerf hate dmg enough/make mob hard enough to make us use something else than hybrid war retaliation tank everything that isn't kited/holding add.)
I'm anticipating them giving RUN Temper at 49 and then Temper II 90+. It seems very likely to me since it's an offensive enhancing magic and RUN has plenty of other RDM specific spells.
I meant with that. Aegis will still block a lot more magic dmg and has a higher block rate then 50% ochain pretty much kills all physical and then you can have runs buff magic if 50% mdt isn't enough. We will have to see what they do to foil but hate tool wise they are fairly similar just run tends to have ones that generate more CE but overall less TE. Dmg is slightly better on run right noe but that's largely due to using gswd pld would probably use it better due to well ragnarok and heavy DD gear but then wouldn't be tanking like run is now. But really they have the same DD tools which is none
Foil aside, Run's hate tools are almost entirely available from the subjob, as are the defensive self buffs except Liement. Pld/Run should definitely hold more hate from ja's and spells than Run/anything, and have better defensive capabilities on top of that. For Run to really pull away in dmg would require the Last Resort changes, but that comes with -15% defense on a job who's physical resistance is it's weak point.
For now at least, Run seems more like a DD party hybrid job or Pld backup/assist buffer than main tank.
ochain is 60% dmg with 90% block rate on higher stuff ? Wouldn't that lose to 50% parry (no dmg) and 40% pdt for physical overall ?
Also I remember fire build blocking more than 80% dmg on stuff like ks99/tiamat but it's been a while I could be wrong, but I'm hoping run can reach that or close to that on everything!
I'm def biased and hope run to be awesome and that /last resort change so I can go back to stun stuff to death!
