I've only tested Gambit and Lunge so far. For the mdb down on gambit I calculated it out to 1 rune: 94/1024, 2 runes: 171/1024, and 3 runes at 237/1024.

Have you made sure it was actually mdb?
No, those would just be the numbers if it was. Once the servers start working again I'm planning on testing on some mobs with MDB trait to verify it.
Oh yeah that would be a bit easier then stacking mdb stuff lol. If I wasn't leeching right now I'd go myself
Finished testing Gambit as Run/Sch using Stone on a goblin leecher after dispelling all buffs. Damage at +100 Int was 144 which matches the expected 10 MDB of a Whm mob. Then I applied 3 rune gambit and recast Stone which did 187 damage. Expected damage if Gambit reduces MDB would be 165. For the case of Gambit increasing damage by 30% the expected is 187.
Appears to be a separate term for Gambit increasing damage by 10% per Rune.
Anybody managed to test if the Runes merits do apply only to the resistance (JP translation by Slycer) or to the damage part as well? (translation by Camate on official forums)
I was thinking that if it doesn't apply to the damage as well it's probably less interesting and maybe 5/5 Valiance 5/5 Pflug might be better?
In the end I don't know. With current state of things Pflug doesn't seem that useful after all, since even mobs which specialize in a single element tend to use debuffs different to that element. For instance Cerberus, he's all about fire damage but he also uses Paralyze which is Ice.
Using 3 Fire Protection Runes would protect you and make you laugh at his Gates of Hades and Acheron Flame (maybe Lava Split too? Or is that considered Breath damage?) but would do nothing against Ululation.
I feel this is the situation for quite a lot of monsters, even those who specialize in single elements.
So either you spread your runes using 2 or 3 different ones, or Pflug isn't as useful as it sounds.
I mean, it *is* useful, I just don't see many situations where you can actually make full use of it.
Maybe my view on this issue is wrong because I'm missing key factors, please correct my mistakes.
It's just resistance. Enspell does about 30ish damage, and while I haven't been on RUN in a long time I'm pretty sure that's normal damage. All the merits are pretty meh so doesn't matter what you pick. Not like RUN is going to be taken to most content anyway, unless AF has some crazy stats on it or something.
Meh...
Runes increase resistance against descent elements. So Ignis enhances ice resistance, and so on.
Yes, it works for the opposing elements, following the elemental wheel.
It's kinda like BRD threnodies work.
Ignis (Fire, in latin) deals Fire damage and increases your Ice resistance. Which would be perfect to use against ice based elements, say... Chione for instance.
Still, what were you trying to say with your post? I missed your point D:
Because you said 3 fire runes would protect you against Cerberus fire attacks..that would be water runes. While fire runes enhance resistance against paralyze. Maybe you just typed wrong, thought you were confused.
Aaaaah that! Now it makes sense :D
Of course I meant it as "runes that give fire resistance". Technically it's Unda but I never remember the names of the 8 runes so I went by their effect.
Of course using Ignis on Cerberus would be pointless haha
Using runes to protect against his attacks wouldn't let you be able to make full use of Pflug since you'd be stacking fire protection runes (Unda) which in return wouldn't protect you at all against Paralyze (ice based).
This is what I tried to say![]()
Was with dervish sword so I think it's just the huge delay. But I'll try it out on the regular server tomorrow if I remember.
RMT cleaves died, so I don't have RUN above level 30. I need to know whether they're on the SP or EX Weapon Skills for the weapons so I can update the wiki.
Great Sword - Almost certainly on everything
Sword - Do they get RLB without sub? Do they get Swift Blade? (gets Savage Blade)
Great Axe - Do they get Raging Rush and Full Break? (gets Steel Cyclone)
Axe - Do they get Calamity or Mistral Axe? (gets Decimation)
Club - Do they get Seraph Strike without sub? Do they get Hexa Strike? (doesn't get Black Halo)
they do get Swift Blade.
They do not get Raging Rush. Much to my disappointment when levelling, had to switch to Axes.
I am pretty sure they do not get Calamity or Mistal either.
Did we reach a conclusion about merits? Does it affect just resistance or damage too?
I assume you mean Rune Enchantment merits? They only affect resistance and recast time afaik.
