SE stated that part of their intention for the Attack/Defense change was to make getting high defense more worthwhile by removing monster > player attack level correction.
It certainly seems that they did so from my experiences.
So thanks to the enmity update, Armed Gears is a really fun fight...and by fun I mean, fucking dumb as shit. Not that it was ever anything else due to its fucking stupid "lets draw the fight out as long as possible" mechanics...but keeping hate dealing 5-9 dmg per non-crit dagger strike and 8-16 non-crit punch, keeping hate is a breeze...
I am late to the party(Was busy being a weeaboo and playing Bioshock Infinite), but have they said anything about this stuff in particular for pet jobs? Shit seems broken in a very bad way. Is there any talk on the JP side of the forums? Are people letting them know this won't fly? Or have they just flat out killed SMN.
The fact that none of you are actually reading the handful of responses you're getting with regard to the pet situation is getting obnoxious
If you want to request that avatar white damage be increased, by all means, do so, but having someone bitch about how omgad something is broken lets file a bug report every four posts is irritating when exactly what you're experiencing has been explained many times already
tl;dr nothing is broken, the job is just a shit soloist based on how they intentionally revised the enmity system. Get over it or petition for avatars to have a major overhaul
For the record, my bug report is over BST not SMN. And I don't care if the is what's "supposed" to happen based on the changes. I sincerely doubt making soloing extremely difficult in most situations was SE's goal. In that regard, this IS "broken". We'll find out when we get an official response. What's obnoxious is the obvious enjoyment people are getting over the fact that soloing got kicked in the dick, just because they couldn't do it.

No longer being able to solo something in half an hour is the least of SMN's problems, honestly. They've already said they'll be tweaking static enmity JAs and spells, so wait and see what happens. Or continue to whine that Assault is too much enmity and then whine again when they change that instead of addresses the actual problem that is Avatar DPS blows.
I don't think any SMN Solo takes more than 10-15 minutes... Has taken a full half-hour since idk.. Carbuncle Kiting at level 75 cap or some sh*t?
Though, I wouldn't count it as the "Least" of their problems. It was really one of the only things the job had left going for it outside of being a 2hour whore. Now its literally just a 2hour whore. While the job is aptly dead, removing more from its arsenal isn't helping it >_>
Doing Odin V2 as we speak. DD tanks absolutely can no longer keep hate off mages. DDing pulls virtually no hate compared to cures. Unless you're a DRK spamming stun and shit, it's impossible. Need to have a PLD on Odin now or mages will pull hate after a few cures. Rag DRKs dropping 2k resos then lose hate to a couple cures or paralynas, it's ridiculous how little hate damage accures now.
Pre nerf it was tanks trying to keep hate off of DDs, now it comes down to tanks trying to keep hate off of mages(as it should be) as almost nothing a DD does pulls hate unless it's a high enmity JA like LR/Souleater/Provoke.
Use C5 exclusively and use DDs that have JA/spells to pull hate. Shouldn't really need a PLD, nothing about the fight really requires it besides adds.
Did the fight a few days ago and noticed nothing different other than it died a lot faster and we didn't use berserk/LR etc except for the PD part. Get better DDs who mitigate damage better and better mages who aren't spamming cure4/6.
Pld is useful when you've only got 4 DDs and you want to get them all away from Odin before 50% to buff up/PD without the risk of full dispel but if you're taking more than that then the only thing its useful for is holding the last set of adds.
I keep just hate just fine on pld without spamming anything. Ie pull with flash and beat on stuff with lol woe swd. It's not a matter of no one being able to get hate it's a matter of people not using the hate tools avaiable to them (like maybe do some of those jas after you engage the mob? Save them for when you need to get hate back maybe?) and doing too much face tanking which suprise would've given you hate issues back at 75 if your mages actually had enough mp to keep up with that. As far as which cures to use not sure if C5 is more efficient as far as hp cured to enmity gained anymore would have to depend on sets and such (not sure how much is cured of each on average) but if you guys have that info I posted the new enmity values.
As far as smn goes play it smarter there are no values right now so guess I'll have to do some testing but pretty sure bp commands are pure VE so they should only temporarily get you hate. So put up stoneskin out of enmity range before you bp and/or do running bps at a distance. Hell maybe throw some -enmity gear in there. If you see your avatar about to die desmn it lower your CE. Alot more work sure but isn't it worth it to not have to run around like chicken with it's head cut off while your avatar attempts to regain hate? Or um don't solo? I mean smn solo never was fast to begin with... partly because of the real problems like it's dmg output
I'm really not seeing any problems. Doing stuff like HQ Khim in AR2 full timing PDT gear on Brawny MNK and spamming cure 4s on RDM with little -enmity and I'm not taking hate at all. I only find the initial hate increase a little annoying when pulling on RDM.
Oh yeah almost forgot some of the differences people might be seeing might have to do with gear/skill (magic skill that is). So on the curers side if they ya know go back to using -enmity gear and actually lvl healing skill it will make a huge difference. Tranquil heart is your friend. Also pull hate has stayed exactly the same. Nothing 90% of the jas in the game can't pull off unless you pulled with something that gives decent hate lol.
We've done Odin2 a few times hate seems fine. We slow kill him (no SMNs) and never had hate issues. Biggest changes I've seen are DDs get 1 shotted by add WSs and Resolution was keeping up with Shoha on Odin.
I ate a few 2500 Savage Blades before the update so that's not really any different in my experience.

I'm guessing you have never played SMN, or never had a job you enjoy smacked down over and over again. There is no god damn reason for Avatars and pets in general not to be able to hold any hate. For you to think otherwise proves what a massive tool you are. Get over yourself.
