Unless the NPC is totally lying, I'm pretty sure the bivouac construction is linked directly with finishing supplies quests from Couriers' Coalition? I finished the supplies quest to Bivouac #2 in Ceizak (not yet constructed), and the NPC said something to the effect of "thank you for bringing materials to help with the construction."
So let me get this straight
If your server is full of dumbfucks who only know how to mash the enter key and don't explore other Coalitions, you have to wait an entire week to even see new things from any other coalition besides Pioneer?
Not sure I like this system, it expects the playerbase to be not fucking retarded, and that's a high expectation.
500 Bayld per trailblazing HELM item...thats fuckin pricey
I'll buy up a hatchet on my mule (full HELM gear LOL) and see what I can turn up in ceizak.
It'll either be changed or content will never be available.
Oh well?
Sad part is I had both my entire LS and my friend's LS spamming the balls out of Peacekeepers and we didnt even get it to rank up, let alone change to signboard. the threshold must be ridiculous
Thats WITH worker body/hand, field leg torque and rope.
I'm beginning to wonder if Square set its expectations too high for the amount of players that would be participating in this system. If the servers can just barely increase ONE coalition over the span of the week, when the expansion is probably at the height of it's new-expansion-smell popularity, then how on earth are we supposed to sustain advancing multiple coalitions/bivouacs over the long term and not have them regress?
I think it will always end up being the top option because people are too lazy to figure out how the system works. On the upside, though, it looks like you're forced to rank them up sequentially. I should be able to get the Tharaundal hat in 2 weeks. I'd bet the body armor requires one more upgrade, so it'll be five weeks for that.
Didn't this come out Wednesday? We didn't have a full week. I would bet we end up averaging one rank per week, which is probably what they intended.
FYI there are more edification ranks beyond the signboard/flag/whatever. There's like chimney and some other stuff, 8 different building upgrades iirc. So on the most optimistic schedule if a coalition ranks up once every single week you're looking at about 2 months until it's fully upgraded. Let me say that I don't really have a problem with this so long as the content is fun and worthwhile (I'm not sure it is).
i was thinking about this too.. and my current hypothesis (assuming the developers thought this through) is that there are upper and lower limits once certain levels in colonization are reached.
1) Frontier Stations will likely be permanent once established. Bivouacs seem less certain.
2) Coalition Rank probably doesnt go down? So its probably a serverwide effort to unlock things, but they'll likely remain that way. - drawing a parallel with Abyssea in some ways.
3) Colonization advancements are probably capped until you establish bivouacs, but once you have a bivouac up, it can't drop below a certain amount unless the bivouac is gone?
edit: i guess some clarification on their part would be great.. i suppose its also a way to get people to continually play instead of do everything on day 1 of the update and get it over with... progressively ranking up and unlocking stuff would likely be able to tide the colonization system over to the next version update
btw, for the Ceizak reive map. are the monster families at each location fixed?
This was basically what happened with Campaign too. People only went to the areas they were comfortable with and people never decided to figure out what reports on the Force's army organization or campaign ops would have on the way the war effort was conducted because the only thing people cared about at the end of the day was getting the exp they wanted. I'm sure there's some kind of complex system buried inside campaign that we to this day still do not understand because SE has no fucking clue how to make complex systems actually appealing to understand.
It's also completely impossible to coordinate the efforts of an entire server because SE doesn't know how to make an effective bulletin board system. If there was some kind of central hub where the entire server could communicate with each other within the game then maybe concerted efforts could actually happen.
2) Seems optimistic, I wouldn't be surprised if they went down, however if they are using Aby as a model for this I wouldn't complain. I'm just scared of a WoTG repeat where stuff was unlocked only 2-3 times a year.
3) Or by dropping, it removes the Bivouac. Hard to say which is the cart and which is the horse in that scenario.
Yes.
