It's entirely dependent on the amount of people at the reive and what they're doing. (Thus a constantly moving target)
    General rule of thumb:
If Exp = Bayld, you aren't doing enough damage, you should move off the roots, onto the mobs, because they take more damage.
*In extreme situations where you're already on mobs, and still falling behind, start using AoE Weaponskills, assuming you can survive.

If Exp is considerably higher than Bayld, you're doing far more damage than the root progress will currently allow you to make in bayld. In this situation, you should be attacking the roots (or hoping more people start hitting the roots)

If Exp is slightly higher than Bayld, this is the optimal situation that implies you're just barely ahead of root progress. Meaning you're doing just enough damage to match root progress.
*Be careful though, that at this point, you're also on the verge of falling behind, because if 1-2 more people start attacking the root, (Assuming your damage remains a constant) you will no longer be keeping up.

I had a formula posted a few pages back, I can't prove it or test it, but:
4 DPS per person on the roots

    *This assumes:
The average DD on the roots deals 50DPS
    Each root has 100k HP
    3 Roots
    5k Total Cap Bayld
25,000 Damage required to reach 5k cap.
You were above the cap each eval.

Lol, not really. Technically the first one is just what I've come to expect from the random people that show up to any given reive.
The next 5, are just my current theory on Ceizak/Yahse Reives. 3 Roots, 100k hp each root, 5K maximum bayld within that 300k hp, means 25k total damage needed without being under the bayld cap at any individual eval.

At the end of the day none of the above matters, people aren't going to adjust their DPS based on the amount of people in the reive.
The main take away should be to understand when to be On the mobs (Exp=Bayd) or when to move to the roots (Exp much higher than Bayld) and when to stay put (Exp slightly higher than bayld)

5k Bayld per root, or per reive? Wait, I think you mean per reive

Per Reive, yes, but I don't see where I said per root? I tried to edit the correction to prevent further confusion, but don't see it?

Other than the fact vermys timestamp is behind by 8 seconds (laptop, whereas I 2box keh and nyn on my pc), notice something missing from vermys column? It seems if you fall short on an evaluation, your bayld does NOT carry over, but XP does. You also no longer get a message if you fail to meet quota:
    [16:59:25]Kehhiko readies Victory Smite.
    [16:59:27]Vermy readies Hexa Strike.
    [16:59:27]Reive momentum score: Resistance success.

    [16:59:30]Vermy uses Hexa Strike.
[16:59:30]The Broadleaf Palm takes 158 points of damage.
[16:59:30]Vermy starts casting Cure IV on Nynja.
[16:59:36]You must have a two-handed weapon equipped in the main weapon slot in order to equip a grip.
[16:59:37]Vermy hits the Broadleaf Palm for 33 points of damage.

    [16:59:38]Vermy casts Cure IV.

Not sure why I got differing amounts of bayld on nyn, since he was in from 100% to 0% and always caught maxed xp from tanking mobs.

btw, incase anyones going "your bayld / xp numbers are low", theres only one target for reives in foret.

Is 5000 a realistic number for one reive? My thought was that it was exactly proportional to the root HP where 100 HP = 1 bayld, 300,000 HP = 3,000 bayld (assuming you cap every evaluation), and then a final evaluation which can yield you anything up to around 1,000 bayld, for a total of maybe 4,000 cap. Not sure how the final evaluation works exactly.

I dont think final evaluation gives any super numbers anymore, nor do I think it ever did (I went through some old logs from the 28th and 29th)...of the numbers I posted above, the final row was from the killshot, and theyre not really any higher than the rest of the evaluations.

Honestly, the most I have gotten from a reive seems to be around 3.5~3.6k. Have never been able to exceed that, but I am a thief and not a heavy dd.

I reive on Dnc (No R/E/M), and usually get right around 3.5-4k, tanking a mob or 2, curing myself and DD'ing, AoE A.Edge if I have Fan Dance + Cocoon ready, while averaging in the ~55-60 DPS range, based on JA's.
I assume that the heavy, heavy R/E/M DD's are surpassing me, so I figured 5k to be the maximum. Has anyone broken 4k in a single reive since the update? Perhaps the cap is actually 4k and I'm just lowballing my own input.

Final eval is most definitely separate from the rest, though. I've been in a reive where there was a normal evaluation literally 1 second before the final evaluation, with the normal one being like 200 bayld and the final one being 600-700.

People who say they get 5k-10k-18k for one reive dunno how to count is all. I'm pretty sure max is 3600. Used to get like 5k maybe before they adjusted it but root and rocks seems 3.6k.

as for reive caps, I'm almost certain that the cap is around 3500, not 5000

    This is gonna bug me to no end lol. 40/42 quests, flagged for Naakuals, even bought a KI, and been plenty active in coalition assignments (though not Scout). Wonder what is the cause of not being able to see that option. ._.;

50% damage reduction* got a bunch of resists on 1000 needles, breaths + unresisted needles correlate with 50, and that makes a lot more sense considering the dmg I usually do on SAM
