But I'd be sitting on the best weapon in the game before many others. Worth it for that in my opinion. Why the fuck else do people make things? To kill things 5 sec faster? ok.
Chillax. I don't care what you'd spend it on, I'm just noting that people that accumulate wealth don't usually do so by blowing their fortune on being the first to have something that becomes tremendously more available a month or two later
You act like you're guaranteed to get the weapon you want along with a decent augment.
You would be paying 20m for a chance at the getting the weapon before other people with no way of knowing if entry items are going to become more commonplace in the near future.
For some people that's worth it, for others it isn't. If you could pick up a non-fussy buyer (i.e. since the loot pool is pretty large) then it would be a lot more desirable.
1/2 weapons and 1/2 item/+1/+2 are guaranteed depending upon items used for entrance, right? All are better than their relic counterparts as far as I am aware so it's not like 20m = a chance at a best weapon, it is = a best weapon in game atm? Maybe not the one you want for the job you play most but still. It's 1/13 chance if one weapon and 1/6.5 if 2 weapons. I admit I'm a gambler but those odds are good to me.
That being said, in the colonization thread there is some dialog which suggest that the rate in which spoils are obtained can be increased, and that the intel NPC will be able to tell us this rate. So Skirmish items may become more obtainable in the foreseeable future.
But they aren't.
The very best Avatar MAB staff we've seen equals Nirvana 99 in MAB, but doesn't have aftermath.
The 179 DMG GSD likely beats Rag in many situations (but not all, as 40 accuracy is extremely powerful), but I do not believe the one reported by Gilgam is better than Ragnarok 99.
There are more examples like this. Aftermath, ACC/ATK +40, and occasionally deal 2x-3x damage are quite powerful, even if their DMG is lower than Skirmish items.
There's also the chance you get a 'duff' weapon. You could get a crappy augment or you get a not very useful weapon.
Like for instance Scythe is clearly nowhere near as desirable as the Greatsword. Or I can't see Bow being very good either.
Nor are they guaranteed to beat their relic counterpart like Fwahm said.
So, theoretically. You have 180M, do you a) build a 99 relic, b) take 9 chances at a Skirmish weapon? The one Gilgam posted is just a +1 stone. I think the +2 stones are guaranteed if you use a +2 as one of the pieces of armor traded.
You do neither. You save your gil to see if one of the following happens:
1: SE goes through with their statement to buff R/E/Ms.
2: Skirmishes become much cheaper to enter.
I can't see it happening in reality, I think people will continue to make relics even if these pop sets remained at 20M and on promises of buffs. I fear SE would take ages to deliver them.
Neither. I do nothing and wait a few weeks rather than making a knee-jerk decision over skirmish.
Well I guess that comparison wasn't really correct compared to the point I was making about if I was drowning in gil as I thought Athras was. I remember him having a couple relics at 75 cap though.
Also, Relic 99s are a lot cheaper than 180m, at least on my server. On my server, a 75 relic currently costs ~75m, and then ~45-50m more for the marrows.
I didn't wanna say that but I thought it, cus SMNs melee where MAB matters!
My plan is to get a piece then team up with people who have the 2 pieces I lack then call loot and run it. Everyone has present has incentive to not fuckup, equal(?) shots at loot and risk is mitigated having spread costs across multiple people.
Now to actually GET a piece........
Hmmm is gilgams link broken now or just me?
Re: Fwahm
I'd like to agree with you, but D66, 183 delay, Crit rate +5%? That's freaking crazy and we don't even know if it's max stats.
For comparison on the DNC spreadsheet:
* 99 Terpsichore/99 Twashtar with free AM3, Haste, and no other buffs - 410 DPS (Twashtar gives 8% Critical hit Rate due to dDEX)
* 99 Terpsichore/D66 +5% Crit Knife with free AM3, Haste, and no other buffs - 409 DPS (because Twashtar gave 8% crit rate, otherwise it would be better)
* D66 +5% Crit Knife/99 Twashtar, Haste, and no other buffs - 397 DPS
Of the three above combinations, the last one is the best for almost all content because it offers comparable DPS and doesn't require me to maintain AM3. This means that the new dagger is a better offhand than Twashtar and a better mainhand than Terpsichore.
