At this point I am kinda ready for that. Lets go machines. The matrix seems like more of a symbiotic relationship with the machines as I get older. They take care of the humans and in return the humans generate power for the machines. Whats so bad about that?

If it turned out the machines could generate a world for the human's choosing and not just replicate some shitass Earth, I could 100% see a lot of people volunteering for the deal. Of course, you'd have holdouts who'd snub them for rejecting reality or spinning it as enslavement as if capitalism is any kinder a mistress or that our ruling class actually gives a damn.

Ok, but you can't get net energy out of a human body, that's just thermodynamics that it.

If they needed brains as a neural network for computing maybe but 90s producers thought we were pretty stupid.

I think we've hit on a new Isekai genre, gentlemen.

I mean, for all we know, they found a way to turn human waste into their equivalent of coal. So in that vein, it's not our bodies that are important so much as what comes out.

The movies explicitly said to be using the electrical signals in the body though.

Even then whatever food/fuel was being used sustain humans in the pods could never be less then total output of a human body.

Morpheus tells you what is being used to sustain humans in the pods...

"For the longest time I wouldn’t believe it, and then I saw the fields with my own eyes. Watch them liquefy the dead so they could be fed intravenously to the living."

You figure they'd just invest in solar. Yeah yeah, the atmosphere was clogged from the war. Unclog it. You're fucking machines.

Quite right; the original script had the machines using our brains for networking. Studio changed it to batteries because that concept was a bit past the general public back in 1999.

I mean the movies explicitly stated they feed the dead into the living.

Highly efficient and needlessly horrific, so we know the robot uprising began in Germany.

Ok? You're still losing energy to the metabolic processes keeping people alive and growing. Not to mention the energy it takes to liquify a human. Better to just burn it a biofuel if you can do that and even then there's a reason we don't run coal fire plants using cows or whatever. Not you mention you couldn't sustain any population just from recycling the dead - you can't live off of less then one corpse your entire life.

I mean - am I talking crazy? Unless perpetual motion was suddenly discovered to be possible - and also a net positive - the whole notion of getting power from humans is absolute bollocks.

It is bollocks, because it wasn't in the original script. Thank Hollywood execs meddling to dumb things down for the stupid American audience.

I could have bought an 11 pull and have 1000 gems left over, but all I got was this silly title.

Also after Morpheus line he added..

"And combined with a form of fusion the Machines had found all the energy they would ever need."

    So there's that.

Did you even watch the movie?

i've made some mistakes in my life but bending over backwards to defend a silly concept used to justify superpowers from an intellectually mid kung fu film from 1999 is not one of them

Yeah, I've certainly forgotten things since it's been close to 2 decades since I probably watched any of them, but I'm also willing to put a little suspension of disbelief into sci-fi or the possibility of future tech. If you told people 20 years ago we'd be playing games on our phones, they'd probably think you're crazy. Overall, I'd just call the Matrix an extension of the full dive VR concept. It'll be nice to have when we finally get there, but it probably won't be in our lifetimes.
