Michele Morrow, the Republican nominee to run K-12 public education in North Carolina, filmed a video after attending the January 6 riot at the US Capitol urging then-President Donald Trump to put “the Constitution to the side” and use the military to stay in power.

In a deleted Facebook livestream she filmed from her hotel room, Morrow called for mass arrests of anyone who helped certify the 2020 election. “And if the police won’t do it and the Department of Justice won’t do it, then he will have to enact the Insurrection Act,” said Morrow. “In which case the Insurrection Act completely puts the Constitution to the side and says, now the military rules all.”

Morrow had previously called for the public execution of Barack Obama and the death of Joe Biden and other prominent Democrats in comments on a since-deleted X account.

“I prefer a Pay Per View of him in front of the firing squad,” Morrow wrote in a since-deleted post from May 2020 about Obama. “I do not want to waste another dime on supporting his life. We could make some money back from televising his death.”

The likes of Trump and co talked about draining the swamp but in reality they ARE the swamp incarnate that are the ones need to be drained. Whole bunch of bloody snake oil salesmen that accuse the other side of what they're guilty of.

It's not just going to disappear even if Trump loses. Looking past all the whining and claims of fraud that will follow, the reality is 30%+ of the country is rotten. When Trump is gone, it'll just be the next bigot(s) that parrot their message propped up and pushed by dark money and other destabilizing forces. We can't just send these people (back) to school so they can learn what hurricanes are, the duties of the VP, how pregnancies work (and how they can go horribly wrong), why the minimum wage was instituted, the difference between sex and gender, how tariffs work, what roles we play in destabilizing other countries and the backlash that follows, what vaccines are, gross differences in punishment for blue/white collar crime alongside racial disparities, that turning schools in literal prisons isn't the solution, what communism and socialism actually is, and so on. To them, they already know those answers and anything else that contradicts is just liberal brainwashing and lies. It's just not something you fix by being nice or hoping free speech and diligent reporting will win the day. What they're doing is the modern day shouting of fire in a theater and social media is virtually being left unmolested, or dare I say emboldened. The amount of right-wing platforms to left-wing is chilling. And it's not because leftist/progressive policies aren't popular, but rather the malicious assertion isn't there because most are and have been trying to play by the rules. This extends to news networks and ownership political affiliation, as well. We're long overdue a breakup of corporations like Sinclair Media, or policies reinstated that obliterate Fox News from the airwaves. They'll whine censorship, certainly, but this is also how you have to punch nazis in the face in this day and age.

But that also can't be it, either, and why I stress acting incrementally is not to the nation's benefit. Shit needs to change now, fast and hard. You might not be able to convince someone to stop being a racist shitwaffle, but if they can get stuff like healthcare, housing, and have a healthy income to work with, it's going to be a lot harder for them to be angry about the things that matter. Heaven forbid we get something close to a workable blue majority, that opportunity can not be squandered with continued pandering to the right. They're the fucking problem. They always have been.

It's been an amazing success by the right to undermine education and everything else for decades now to get us to this point. I don't think there's really a going back with just how things have eroded across the board and with the inclusion of social media to get the blaze burning like crazy. Used to be your wacky uncle might have some weird take on something...now he can make a tiktok about NOAA flying into a hurricane and instead of checking on WHY that might occur with the literal power of the worlds knowledge at this finger tips, he posts something insane and everyone else...still with the power of the internet at their fingertips just buy into it.
