Telling you how a two party system works is not gaslighting you lol. Stop Newsome in the primaries, but if he wins we still have to make sure the next Trump doesnt win during the generals.
Agreed. If he wins the primaries it certainly is not the time to bitch about it anymore until AFTER he wins the general election.
Bold of some of y'all to assume the DNC will even allow a legit challenger to go up against Newsom in the primaries.
It's probably already been decided that he's the chosen one for 2028
Yeah because there were no primaries in 2016 and 2020 right
We still have an eternity of this presidency for insane shit to happen.
I think the crazier battle will be the GOP primary. Does a MAGA bootlicker win without Trump on the ballot, and, assuming, a historically low approval rating.
Wouldn't be surprised to see someone come out of left field like Britt or Salazar. Claim you're moving the focused direction of the party from immigration and international policies to domestic, kitchen table issues that the Americans people have shown is what they care about. Commend Trump on his unprecedented success in immigration enforcement and international policies to everyday Americans. Put up a cute, racist white woman to pander to women in order to make up for lost Latinos and Gen Zers and see how that goes. Can distance yourself from Trump's politics while sucking his dick for what he "accomplished".
God, an awful thought just hit me. Erika Kirk.
It's got some truth to it cuz the DNC does fuck around and try their best to fuck over good candidates but they can get through like we saw with NYC mayor race and some others here and there. DNC is always going to throw as much $$ as they can at some centrist shill though and $$ is king. I think if we were looking at 2016 Bernie in age and everything in next election or even 2024 you'd see more waves from him but 2016 was just typical "Fuck it, vote blue whatever who cares" mixed with a lot of "None of this fucking matters" with a peppering of "Fuck Hiliary, she'll win anyways so i'm staying home" and got us to where we are now
I will say I am way more optimistic about the 2028 primary, regardless of what the field is. The energy feels different. I get the feeling that if the ghouls at the top of the DNC tried to anoint another milquetoast establishment candidate because "they're up" that the public backlash would be dramatically worse for them than in the past.
The groans started with Hillary, rightfully so. But Biden wasn't really seen as a bad candidate in 2020. He had a ton of popularity from Obama. And it showed because he won, obviously. After the incredible debacle that was 2024 I don't think they're going to have an appetite for another round at the generic career politician.
I could be wrong but in the end Tyrath is right, the people can be so loud that the party has no choice. See: Obama.
"Vote blue no matter who" isn't even a bad thing to say. It's objectively and historically correct. It just gets extremely exhausting having to hear it because, it's just like... how about I vote blue, and I actually feel really good about it too? Can we try that? Please?
I will say as well, another reason it really sucks when we get situations like that is because I really want to see the DNC's hubris punished in a real meaningful way. People like Schumer, Wasserman-Schulz, and Pelosi deserve a reckoning. The problem is that it also punishes everyone else, way worse than any of those people lol
winning the Democratic primary would've be harder than winning the general, yeah
at least we probably won't run a woman vs Trump a third time
i think, i hope
