    SHIRT GATE
Mike McFadden (Rep) who is running for Al Franken's (Dem) Senate seat is using a slogan that says Franken & Obama are sending jobs overseas, prints his campaign logo on shirts made in Nicaragua

Republican U.S. Senate candidate Mike McFadden talks a lot about the importance of jobs. For instance, in recent weeks, he's said things like, "Senator [Franken] along with President Obama have waged a war on jobs in this country," and, "I've created jobs. That's what I do. I have a record of 20 years of doing that, and I look forward to that conversation."

So eyebrows were raised when McFadden's campaign distributed shirts at the MNGOP convention in Rochester that were made in Nicaragua.

So what explains the orange Nicaraguan shirts that Republicans were wearing around the convention?

Turns out, the Nicaraguan shirts are Obama and Franken's fault, at least according to what Erickson tells us.

"We needed just 50 shirts on one-day notice for the state convention," he says. "It was hard to find the shirts we wanted on short notice, especially with the Obama-Franken war on jobs forcing more and more companies to move overseas."

A DFL source, on the other hand, linked "Shirt-gate" with reports that the investment bank McFadden worked for as co-CEO, Lazard Middle Market, was hired to advise companies that subsequently cut workers or moved jobs overseas on at least three occasions.

The Nicaraguan-made shirts also drew a rebuke from the Al Franken campaign.

"Looks like Minnesotans are finally learning the specifics about McFadden's jobs plan -- too bad it's for workers in Nicaragua," campaign spokesperson Alexandra Fetissoff tells us. "We're proud that the Franken Campaign T-shirts are union-made right here in the USA."

Seriously. She was never smoking hot but was a better sight then most conservative types. Hadn't seen her picture for awhile and now she looks like she's been on meth for 10 years.

Just because you don't like her doesn't mean you have to wrongly accuse her of things. It's obvious that's the "after" face of coke, not meth.

MNGOP Deputy Chairman, Chris Fields, uses the Death of Robin Williams to Promote the Primary Vote for Gov hopeful Jeff Johnson

    Spoiler: show

About six weeks after the last known photo of Robin Williams was snapped at the Dairy Queen in Lindstrom during his visit to the nearby Hazelden Addiction Treatment Center, the world-famous comedian reportedly took his own life yesterday in California at the age of 63.

Williams's spokesperson told CNN he'd been battling severe depression lately.

As you'd imagine given how beloved Williams is throughout the world, news of his death elicited many tweets expressing sadness, while others expressed appreciation for Williams's comedic and dramatic genius. One of the latter type came from DFL digital media director Ellen Anderson.

You wouldn't think that tweet could possibly spark controversy, but MNGOP Deputy Chairman Chris Fields -- a man known for regularly trolling liberals on Twitter -- somehow saw an opportunity to score political points for his party's endorsed gubernatorial candidate on the eve of today's primary election.

.@ellencanderson how very 80's. Want an economy like we had in 80's under Reagan...Vote @Jeff4Gov tomorrow in the primary.

    -- chris fields (@ChrisFieldsMN) August 11, 2014
That tweet quickly elicited criticism from both sides of the aisle, including this one from a former MNGOP communications staffer:

But Fields, instead of deleting his offending tweet and/or apologizing, doubled down.

(Note: You can see this exchange in the spoiler above)

As is typically the case when someone gets flack for saying something dumb on social media, Fields's attempt to dig himself out of his hole only made it deeper, even among conservatives who you'd think might help one of the Minnesota Republican Party's leaders dig out:

On Tuesday afternoon, the MNGOP-endorsed gubernatorial candidate Fields was attempting to support with his initial tweet, Jeff Johnson, offered up this condemnation:

Also this afternoon, Fields himself issued an apology after deleting most of his offensive tweets.

Apologies if it was posted in another thread. A short clip of what those who subscribe to Palin's videos are treated to. Yeah, it's lolPalin, and she's irrelevant. Still might be good for a chuckle or may raise your blood pressure when you realize some people still listen to her.

Plus, she totally sounds like she's on something.

“We believe”? Wait, I thought fast food joints…huh. Don’t you guys think that they’re like of the Devil or somethin’ I was. Liberals, you want to send those evil employees who would dare work at a fast food joint then ya just don’t believe in, thought you wanted to, I dunno, send them to Purgatory or somethin’ so they all go VEGAN and, uh, wages and picket lines I dunno they’re not often discussed in Purgatory, are they? I dunno why are you even worried about fast food wages because…Well, we believe an America where minimum wage jobs they’re not lifetime gigs they’re stepping stone.”
After reading the snippet from the article I just....can't bring myself to watch the actual video.

I don't think my brain could handle the trauma.

These days, according to the National Employment Law Project, the average age of fast-food workers is 29. Forty percent are 25 or older; 31 percent have at least attempted college; more than 26 percent are parents raising children.
    oh look, observable evidence.

Just another day in Utah. If we give people access to healthcare, they might die!

Utah lawmaker has his own definition of death panels

He's not completely wrong. Death from sepsis and other hospital-acquired infections is a serious problem. That's why nowadays hospitals try to kick you out ASAP. It's partly because of capitalism (filling beds with other people for more income), but it's also about saving your ass from the nasty shit you can get in a hospital while your immune system is compromised.

Also, the point of insurance is to help people before they need to go to a hospital, so he's certainly a retarded fuckwit in any case.

I just have to laugh at the example he used. He hears about someone who was in a car accident, went to the hospital, and died ( I assume, the article just says complications) due to a bad reaction to pain meds. So is he saying that a person involved in a car accident should just walk it off? Not sure how bad their injuries were, but to actually suggest that they were wrong to go to the hospital is what made me shake my head. Yes, things can go wrong in a hospital, but to imply that people are better off without healthcare, preventative or urgent... Like you said "a retarded fuckwit in any case."
