I like how you can beat your wife and kids, abduct your hairstylist and still get to make ads like that. One day he'll be a great President

It's amazing but also not amazing to me how that side lacks anything meaningful in their ads beyond "Lets fucking kill some libs and traitors who went against Trump!" and it's eaten up. Never "oh also we need to do x y and z in our agenda to make your lives better"
They should just cut to the chase, pull out their dicks and measure them. Biggest gets the votes.
I once read that the modem Republican agenda turned in the 1970s into essentially "force the Democrats to be against everything and when enough people hate them just be against whatever they propose " and it seems to hold up pretty well. Despite the Democrats being responsible for much of the societal gains they continuously get painted as ineffective because 100% of their agenda wasn't pushed through.
Or as others have put it, it's easy for the Republicans to win if their goal is to get 51% of the electorate in all the right places because the Democrats are the only ones trying to govern for 100% of the people.
In that campaign ad. His smile at the end.. there is just something about it.. I can almost see the crazy in his mind.
It's because they legitimately believe in their cause and level of intelligence. In the right person, we'd call that delusional. You can't really break delusions because they're so powerful and fixed that they take years to completely undo and often result in violence towards others.
We found that during the early parts of COVID there was interesting overlap between people we suspected had delusional disorder and those that bought into huge conspiracies. In the area of overlap were the patients admitted for extreme behaviors (walking around in public carrying weapons, telling their neighbors they were off to join the Space Force for the next holy war, that kind of stuff) and frankly those are the ones that scare me the most.
Even with the general conservative fondness for shooting things in their political adverts, this really seems egregious.
Yup totally feel this. Also helps that GoP have a very hive mind and focus around very few and specific things to stoke fear and resentment. Meanwhile Democrats are scattered all over the place and there's so much infighting between liberals that nothing really happens.
Why, exactly? How is it in the public's best interest?
"We don't want a bunch of people running to Truth because that'd hurt our ad revenue!" probably.
Fucking embarrassed to live in Texas with crazy people like this.Texas Republicans also approved a resolution declaring that President Joe Biden was "not legitimately elected," signaling the continued support for former President Donald Trump's baseless claims of widespread fraud in the 2020 presidential election.
The Texas GOP's new party platform also called for full repeal of the Voting Rights Act of 1965.
Other planks also indicated a further shift to the right for the party, giving prominence to culture issues. The platform describes homosexuality as "an abnormal lifestyle choice," and also declares that the party opposes "all efforts to validate transgender identity."
The platform also calls for a total ban on abortion and "equal protection for the Preborn." Abortion is currently prohibited after around six weeks of pregnancy in Texas, but an imminent ruling from the U.S. Supreme Court could overturn the decision in Roe v. Wade that guaranteed abortion rights nationwide and trigger a law in Texas making abortion illegal.
The new Texas GOP platform also states that the education system should focus on "imparting essential academic knowledge, understanding why Texas and America are exceptional and have positively contributed to our world, and while doing so, also offer enrichment subjects that bless students' lives."
It calls for students to learn about the "Humanity of the Preborn Child," including teaching that life begins at fertilization. It also demands that the state legislature pass a law prohibiting the teaching of "sex education, sexual health, or sexual choice or identity in any public school in any grade.
