I'm eager to see how GC weapons have changed in 2.0. >.> The Lieutenant weapons were pretty formidable in 1.x, and thanks to Atomos, I obtained all of them for both my main and my alt, with a full account worth of seals left over for each character.

I'm raring to go for 2.0. ;_; Must hold on just a little longer...

What's so flawed about a scenario where prices start at 10 mil across all servers and drop to 1 mil in 2 months time (based on seph's assumptions)?

I haven't seen any of Sephiroth's economic concerns to become actual problems so far, and he has been saying these things for like 2 years now. I hope he isn't majoring in economics.

Really? I predicted the crash in the value of all DoL items pretty accurately. Used to be a good money earner before they let people gather 24/7 and flood the market.

But this isn't something I'm willing to put much debate into simply because we don't know the key variable, IE the rate of decline in house prices. Maybe we'll get more indication in beta phase 4 when housing is tested. (or is it 3?)

I, like others won't be falling into the trap of spending large amounts of money on housing however. If I want to blow large chunks of my bank balance away I figure I would get more value in rare gear than a house. But even that isn't worth buying due to BoE. Lots of fun economic decisions to be made with the new systems in place.

The only thing worth "blowing" money on are investments into things that will make you more money. Where a large percentage of people will blow their money on housing, you could invest in leveling and perfecting the crafts needed to build materials and such for housing. I'm sure demand will bell curve within little time. I thought of the idea of the real estate market, but we don't concretely know how many properties we would be able to buy, let alone the infinite availability of housing instances. So I suspect that market won't ever see the light of day, less the player driven community mirrors real life and we see certain instances with higher "land value" due to the wealth/prestige of the populace within.

It's all speculative, but there is money to be made with this housing thing.

I think there will be a few hot properties in each area that everyone would love to own, so their prices may go up but the crappier houses won't due to the number of them. Do we know if you can own more than one house? Because if you can't then there's a finite amount of instances based on the server population, which means those hot properties may only exist in say 10 each. If that's the case then prices will rise as players get richer and more people want them. Problem is this is longterm investment and SE could well add a new housing area in an expansion next year or whenever, crashing the market in the original areas.

They are still developing the concept of having multiple houses, although I've only seen them mention this once or twice just briefly, iirc they said as of right now you would probably be limited to one house, until they decide. Which is all tentative till they release housing come months after release.

Also adding new instances of housing is as simple for them as adding a new hard drive to their system, so I don't suspect they would wait for months or a whole expansion to open up new areas.

Not in its current build, but it's something they are already considering but they'll obviously have to watch the housing system in action first.

By setting up items known as towers at your house, you and your free company members can receive bonuses to things like EXP, the rate in which you acquire gil, and other benefits.

I can imagine I'll be wasting a lot of gil just trying to complete Crafting Logs for unlocking all the recipes for my Lv.50 Disciples of the Hand. (Which is a complete waste of EXP.)

Speaking of... with the inevitable level-cap raise at some point down the road, it's going to be annoying when you accidentally complete Hunting Log entries on your Lv.50 classes. Doubly annoying if Hunting/Crafting/Gathering log completion is also a path to achievements with item rewards. I can easily see another crown-type trophy for completing every log entry for every class. HMMPH. :/

Legacy problems.

It really isn't a waste because you don't have to do them (unless they add some sort of achievement and you want the reward for clearing the log). If you don't want to waste the exp just don't make all the items. Logs will expand with the level caps anyway so you'll always have them as a source of exp.

OK, I had just derp'd hard and for some reason recalled Crafting Logs opening up with completion like Hunting Logs. Neeeevermind.

Agreed. Turning in quest items is incredibly fast with the controller. Overall, loving the feel of the controller.
