I'm going to echo the sentiments already expressed here. Was never a controller person for XI or XIV, but I think I've seen the light. Using the snakebyte FFXIV branded controller that's cheap on amazon, was a great impulse buy to try out this weekend.

I felt the arms were a bit long on it, but for ps-style pads it's nice. If anyone prefers xbox-style I recommend the razer onza or their new sabertooth. There's a good video that highlights the differences on youtube.

why not just get a wireless adapter and use your xbox controller?

Thats what I do, grabbed a cheap dongle off of Amazon and it works great.

Right now I hate the gamepad. I want to use my left analog for character movement but it's forcing me to use the d-pad.

Apparently unlike 1.0, 2.0 does not like Logitech Rumblepad 2s. The controls are all fucked up.

Found the conflict, apparently the game has issues with detecting my gamepad due to having my Nostromo hooked up.

PC games have a tendency to only recognize the first accessory classified as a gamepad attached to your usb hub by number. Try switching the physical inputs around so you don't have to disconnect the nostromo. This worked for me with my onza and the g13 when I had the same problem with Dark Souls.

I'm on my second one (got the first one as a prize at comicon eons ago, woo) I find they aren't very sturdy, the first one I dropped and the analog stick stopped functioning correctly.

Am I the only one somewhat disappointed with the beta? It's leaps and bounds above 1.0, but as a modern mmo it has been a little lame. But with that said I will most likely play it a lot since it's FF.

It's no good criticising without saying why you think it's "lame", and if you can't because you feel it breaks the NDA then so does saying it's "lame".

I agree with this, and to expand on it like Sephiroth asks, it feels too much like every other mmorpg out there. But it's only first impressions and I haven't really put too much time into the beta, so hopefully it will all change, but it just seems too similar to WoW/Rift/Swtor, and if endgame ends up being pretty much the same as those 3 games then I cannot see a lot of non 1.0 players sticking around for very long.
