Inquiry: How much would you spend for a used PS3?
As the title states, what should the going price for a used ps3 sell for? Or, how much would you be willing to purchase one for? Let's go with the a 250gb model. Best buy sells for $300 on the high end which includes 2 games, or for the same price you can get the God of War pack which is a 500gb model. Lower priced is the Uncharted 3 model 250gb for $270.
A 160gb refurbished model from Gamestop is $230 so that's a no brainer.
On my local craigslist the lowest I've seen is $120 for a 120gb model. Many listings fall around $180.
What would be an actual good deal on a used system? Or should I just wait for the ps4 to come out to buy a ps3 for less?

Best thing to do is scout eBay to see what the going rate is..

used is usually about 200ish depending on what model it is. older fat models that arent backwards compatible are less, newerish slim models are closer to that 200 mark but it also depends on the accessories.
the longer you wait the less it will in theory be worth with the new system coming out, however the ps4 is NOT backwards compatible so itll end up being a risk regardless, sell and not have ps3 gaming function or keep it and have both if you intend to buy

Another thing to consider when picking up one is PS+ and your hard drive size. If you sign up for PS+ you will get some games that are between 4 to 10+gigs every other week. I could be wrong, but sense it doesn't mark a game like you bought it anymore, if you delete a game that you downloaded using PS+ and it's no long on PS+ you have to pay regular price for it. With that being said Sony will allow you to put any size, notebook hard drive into any of their systems so you could just put at huge one in after you get it to negate this problem.

I'm definitely wanting at least 120gb. Most listings on ebay are around $120-$150 before shipping. I may just save up and purchase one brand new. I don't prefer buying used electronics, but I also am broke.

You think this is the real Dmitry?
It should still be in your download history if you delete old games you got from PS+. If you are comfortable with a screw driver, you could buy a smaller HD size PS3 and buy a bigger hard drive to put in it and download to your heart's content.

Everybody's Favourite Nobody
Where I live, $300 is for a new PS3 in store, so most people sell theirs for $150ish.
