The day the FFXIAPP subscriber list was released was by him was one of the best days in BG history. The drama was fantastic.

That shit got a 10/10 for presentation and more or less led to the "WHATEVER BRO, EVERYONE ARGUSES ANYWAY"

A little of column A and a little of column B. There was some sort of glaring security flaw in Friend List Plus (which I don't think even exists anymore?) and the way in which SE reset your password. Then there were compromised shitty vb forums or some shit.

Anyone know if the guy who did it actually went to jail? Or how long for? I think in the announcement they built him up into some kind of criminal genius. A bunch of different agencies, cops and FBI were all involved in the hunt for him totaling thousands of man hours (something like that). Amazing that one guy could cause so much trouble.

I'm not 100% sure, but there lawyers and cops I think. It was all, afaik, settled out of court.

As for jail, don't think he went to jail for FFXI, though last I heard (like four years ago) he was in some trouble over stealing credit card info from people (not ffxi people). No one wanted to talk about it though in case it would get him into more trouble or something. Dunno what ever happened with that.

It was on the spam forum or something and there was a whole bunch of shit about it and I think it was Shuemue who said something about wanting to fuck whoever it was and then got butthurt it was her? I might be exaggerating the story in my memory. My jab at not only her benefiting wasn't specifically meant at him though.

Atomos thing was laughably simple, to be honest. You get a world pass error if you try to access a server you're not supposed to be, now, though!

Wasn't the Atomos thing something as simple as change a file client side to make it appear in your server list? I remember trying it but very quickly backtracking and thinking that was a stupid thing to do as it was ridiculously detectable. I remember it being laughably easy like Cair said though.

hilariously, when accounts started getting stolen later on in the game, it was most of the time fake. Said shady person would contact he who shall not be named and his female compatriot, they would be given the information to be transferred to other servers or characters, shady person would contact SE and qq and they would get their stuff back. Dupes a plenty, courtesy of SE.
