Hell, scary shit are dirty bombs, just a bunch of fissile material in water, in the back of a van, hooked up to a blender/cement mixer. Park the car on a crowded street, with a timer on the agitator, mixer starts churning up the water with the fissile material and the whole street gets massive doses of gamma, hours, days, weeks later people start dieing.
No mass histeria just a lot of sick dying dead people.

Literal definition is "large numbers of humans and/or cause great damage to..." ...which something that ends up shredding dozens of people at once qualifies under.

A dose of chemical weaponry that didn't so much as smudge a window qualifies as WMD, long as it leaves plenty of bodies.

A lot of people are nitpicking over terminology of WMD, and what its scale should be defined as, because of how much it was used by Dubya in direct reference to Iraq. As far as I'm concerned the term works in both cases. One works on the "street level scale" and the other works on the "global military scale", the former being the scale you'd accuse a single person or small group on and the latter being the scale you'd accuse an entire nation on.

Just look to the incident when NK fired on that SK island a few years back. A single man or small group doing that independently would have been retaliated against with a vengeance .... but since it was done by a country and its military, the scale of the incident suddenly becomes way smaller in relation to the overall picture even though the damage done and lives lost are still the same.

A Republican state legislator in New Hampshire is claiming that the United States government is responsible for the Boston Marathon bombing.

State Rep. Stella Tremblay (R-Auburn) posted on conservative talk show host Glenn Beck's Facebook page Friday that the attack and the subsequent search for suspects was playing out how Beck had suggested. She said the bombings were a plot by the federal government, and included a link to a video from another conservative talk show host Alex Jones, in which Jones also claims the federal government planned the bombing. Tremblay's message to Beck was posted Friday morning, before suspect Dzhokhar Tsarnaev was arrested.

Just as you said would happen. Top Down, Bottom UP. The Boston Marathon was a Black Ops "terrorist" attack. One suspect killed, the other one will be too before they even have a chance to speak. Drones and now "terrorist" attacks by our own Government. Sad day, but a "wake up" to all of us. First there was a "suspect" then there wasnt. Infowars broke the story and they knew they had been "found out".

If one of the charges is use of a WMD. This case will be in the courts for some time. I know people want him sent to jail. But charging him with laws that aren't really suited to the case could end up hindering the case.

The legal definition fits fine, the issue is that people had a poor idea of the legal definition of a WMD for civilian criminal cases and were surprised at how low the qualifying bar is.
