Yeah, it's obvious from what the reporters have been mentioning in the courtroom is that he was completely unfazed at hearing the guilty charges -- not even man enough to look at his victims and the families in their eyes. I'm pretty sure to him the death penalty would be a way out for him.

I also hope he gets life--or some multiple of it.

I used to be for the death penalty in cases like this, but then just one argument made me rethink that: "It's illegal to kill someone. So, why then, does the government get to legally do it?"

    The real thinking should be

"He killed people and made a lot of people suffer, why should they give him the easy way out and kill him? Just let him suffer for his actions"

I'm glad the posters in here are so far better than people on my Facebook. I live in the boston area, and despite what that poll says about more Bostonians wanting life in prison, my facebook feed currently does not reflect as such.

But then again, I guess the more vocal ones are probably for the death penalty anyway.

It's also illegal to lock people up against their will, but the government has to do one or the other lol. I have 0 issues with the death penalty in most cases, but it's not like I'm going to be upset with life in prison. As long as he can't get out and do this shit to anyone else, then I'm just fine.

Death or life in prison, it doesn't matter.

For what this asshole did to so many victims, their families, volunteers, first responders, medical staff etc... he is getting off easy with either decision.

While he may state that like an idiot. Executing him still lessens his suffering. Sure he will die, but he was prepared to do so when he committed those acts anyway. Life in prison makes him live with his crimes and punishes him for the entirety of his life.

This is without even getting into the whole debate of how killing someone is barbaric, costs more money, turns him into a martyr for his cause, etc etc. It's better to let him rot in a hole and leave him in obscurity.

So the argument is killing is barbaric, but we should do life in prison because that makes him suffer more?

    I am confused lol

I shouldn't have said lessens suffering. More like lessens the well deserved punishment.

His punishment is that he is no longer allowed to be a part of society. You were correct the first time - killing him would be less cruel than locking him away forever (most likely in solitary forever, because he will get killed in general population).

Lock him up for life, and make sure the docs in the infirmary are able to keep his ass alive after each beatdown to prolong his suffering. Death is too good for that tool.

People might not be happy about how I think, but I stand by my point. It's a "human right" to live and he robbed those people of that. And because of that he should be removed of his own "Human rights" and rot in prison for the rest of his live

I'd say chain him in a room with rice cookers with vibrating alarms inside set to random times. Tick tock.

    Very unlikely he gets death.

And when he does get sentenced to life in prison, there will be no "boys" to get him. He'll be in ADX Florence, inside a concrete box for the next 50-70 years. Frankly, I'd rather take the needle if were him.

If he lives another seventy years, he'll basically be in solitary confinement the same time span from the end of World War II til now. Think of how much the world has changed in that time. It'll change just as much, if not far more in the next seventy years. But it won't change for him. A bed and three trays a day. That's it.

    Sucks to be him.

Very unlikely? When they refused to ever take it off the table for the plea bargain. Seems to me like they are gunning for the death penalty and it will probably happen.
