It doesn't matter. Churchill is such a badass that he can shoot it right out of his hand while simultaneously disrupting the remote's signal with his superhuman mind powers. This is, of course after he has already identified the one guy that is wearing a belt/backpack differently than everyone else and has already killed him with multiple shots. This happens while the terrorist (because they are always terrorists) is falling to the ground......and Church wouldn't even hit a single civilian.

Not trying to start shit, but what exactly are you suppose to do when dealing with a suicide bomber? Can someone in the military actually explain it to me? I remember reading some army blogs and how there was like 7 bombers but only 3 blew up and the other 4 were shot before they could do something by Afghan police/army.

I'm sure this is different when dealing with it in a warzone compared to civilian area but was curious on protocol or how it was dealt with.

Shoot them.....many many times....with an assault rifle. Just make sure they are wearing a belt or backpack and have brown skin. They also may be wearing a hat and jacket.

How do you stop a suicide bomber? Try not to blow up all of his family and neighborhood so much? You can't fight an enemy that is/was supposedly the same people you're trying to "protect" or liberate the hell out of over there.

Better yet, what if he's not even the one holding a detonator?

In a real scenario where you're responding to such a threat you would have some of the more common types of initiators jammed (GSM, UHF/VHF) but there are many other ways to rig an initiator so it's always a crapshoot. You usually know that you're dealing with a definite/potential separate trigger situation, and if you have no idea then you plan for that contingency. I don't know how common it would be outside of places where they recruit high 16 year old kids but I imagine the threat of dying weighs on even the most ardent of sand worshipers.

If he is holding the detonator that is exactly why you would shoot them, they aren't guaranteed to set it off and you can approach them prior to it occurring and remove their hand. It's not 100%, but people who do respond to or find themselves in a situation where they are dealing with/with potential suicide bombers are the expendable first line of defense. There is of course the situation where he does not have the initiator in his hand, in which case you just pretend you're at the range and hit the 25m target.

As far as identification, there are a few different tools you can use to identify silent bombers. I'm assuming the police forces of the US are aware of these and just weren't employing them because there would be no logical reason to do so at the Boston Marathon (if anythings even been confirmed for suicide bomber, idk)

This. Also preventative measures that aren't realistic on a 24/7 basis in an actual country. There are some passive things you can do with thermals/other toys but you're talking orders of magnitude larger than the scale of search we'd ever do in iraq.

Yeah I agree, you would need to completely change day to day life for every American to have any semblance of prevention if it were.

The initial conversation was started as an aside to the actual events, in that if only someone present had carried a gun (sarcastically). The reality is the only way you could stop someone intent on blowing themselves up is with a gun, ignoring the whole identification aspect.
