The FBI just released a scathing statement slamming media organizations for erroneously reporting that a suspect had been taken into custody in connection with the Boston Marathon bombings.

Here's the full statement:

Contrary to widespread reporting, no arrest has been made in connection with the Boston Marathon attack. Over the past day and a half, there have been a number of press reports based on information from unofficial sources that has been inaccurate. Since these stories often have unintended consequences, we ask the media, particularly at this early stage of the investigation, to exercise caution and attempt to verify information through appropriate official channels before reporting.

CNN first reported that an arrest has been made in the case, reports that were echoed by Fox News, the Associated Press, and The Boston Globe. Within about an hour, however, CNN and the other outlets began retracting those reports.

also saw something showing all the NY Post(I think? Or Times) inaccuracies with the only factually correct reporting they gave them credit for was which state Boston was in

Something isn't sitting right with me with this court house situation going on.

Federal agents are handling this investigation, with support from many local towns and state troopers.

Suddenly the US Marshall service contacted Boston requesting SWAT members to help secure the outside of the building, then a captain called for all MOP officers to do the same (this is when people started talking about arrests).

Now a bomb threat was placed, entire building evacuated and the feds are saying they were using the court house as a "command center". Which is cute, because I'm sitting in the command center right now..... So why was all the security needed? Something is up

I know US Marshals are for protecting judges, so... ? I'm not hearing anything about a threat on the scanner, but I do know they were pushing back reporters from the court house
