That all seems like a pretty absurd placement of things right next to a fertilizer plant.

Pretty much my thought. I'm trying to think of various plants in this area where placement might be questionable, but I think mercifully, most aren't smack dab in the middle of towns and are typically on outskirts or not responsible for more dangerous, volatile elements. Mostly coal and steel with natural gas and such being a more recent topic of conversation for potential old plant retrofitting or new facilities in general.

But yeah, fuck living a few hundred feet from a poorly lit match away from a bomb factory.

Has it been confirmed if the guy who filmed the explosion was fine or not? I mean, if the blast was strong enough to shatter some glass up to 20 miles away, and he was at most 1 mile or less from the fire of where he thought he would be safe, but that backfired quick.

We had a oil plant blow up like this a few years back. Nobody died though because it was 2am and it was in an industrial sector rather than near highshcools and nursing homes.
